Here's what's wrong with that trade, a list:

1) It's no where near fair value.
2) Nashville takes on Johnson and his garbage contract because....?
3) Nashville is never going to retain salary there, that makes no sense, especially considering you already have them doing you a favor in taking Johnson
4) Kessel for Subban one for one is not fair, so Pitts would have to add to the trade to make it fair
4a) as previously stated Johnson makes the trade worse for Nashville not better
4b) Matta adds no value IMO, He's a garbage defenseman, therefor is simply a throw in
4C) PLUS you're getting Granlund??? HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE

If you left that trade as is but removed Granlund it's still not fair in Nashvilles perspective...

That's terrible for nashville. We get worse on defense by losing our top 2 defenseman, we lose a top 6 winger and we gotta retain 2.5 million for a cap dump and #4 defenseman that would probably be #5 or 6 and a 31 year old that will maybe get 30 more points than the top 6 forward we traded. No thanks. You people gotta stop under valuing subban because he had a down injury filled season. He was a norris finalist just last year

so wrong on that take. but I agree the trade is bad for Nashville.
Subban and Granlaund for Kessel and Schultz -> zero retention. if Nashville doesn't want Schultz, remove granlaud as well and trade Schultz for a top 6 winger

maatta has value still. he's a solid bottom 4 D. Nashville has no interest but to say hes "garbage" is simply wrong. he needs a fresh start. he'll probably bring in a 2nd round pick or a young, 3rd line forward

Maatta is a solid bottom 4 dman. He's not the most fleet of foot but his positioning and stick work is good. When he gets beat he looks terrible, but that doesn't happen all that often. That's just all people remember because it looks so bad when it happens.

The numbers speak for themselves, he is not solid. he's hardly an NHL caliber defenseman...

Lmao he’d still help the leafs terrible D haha. And as for your “advance stats”. Go look at his WAR numbers. Those are very solid

Don't want him on the Leafs, ever. You don't fix a terrible defense by adding a terrible defenseman

Opinions vary, I think his garbage and would not want him on my team, if you like him that'd good. Glad you have him in PIT
