Regardless of what he's worth, I'm pretty sure Minny gets fleeced in the deal.

Don't quote me but I think the rumor was Zucker would've been traded at the deadline to Calgary for a 1st round pick and Frolik but it fell through because Frolik wouldn't waive for Minnesota(cant blame him,Flames are contending,Wild aren't) so if that's true I'm guessing something similar would get it done.

Also if that is true that seems like a very reasonable cost to acquire Zucker and it makes me think Fenton is an idiot, should be able to get a bit more for Zucker.

Zucker is not worth a first round pick. Maybe if they take cap back or retain on his contract. Sabres didn't even give up a first for Skinner.

I would argue that Nylander not best prospect, I would not even included in top 5 if you count Casey and Pilut. I have no problem if we give Nylander as the main part of the deal for Zucker, but if you can get it for Sheary, Dougherty and second, then of course I would made this.

Forgot to say I disagree that he's not worth Nylander.
How much more time can Buffalo waste waiting for prospects to become effective players for them?
They need to take a step and get better and Zucker would definitely help in doing that, he's basically in his prime years and is signed to a reasonable contract.
If there was a Zucker for Nylander trade available they should do it, even if they had to add a mid round pick or something minor as a sweetener they should do it.

That was cause the Canes were limited by Skinner's trade clause he had.

I think that's such a weird statement. Is he worth Pittsburgh's best prospect? Probably yes. Is he worth Heponiemi, Vasalainen or whoever? Probably no. "A teams best prospect" isn't a binary system, it differs greatly from team to team.

This is very true. Zucker had a good year, his counting stats just didn't replicate his performance really

Casey and pilut aren't prospects imo. It would be olofsson, nylander, and UPL as our top prospects currently. Not gonna wager one of them in the hopes that Zucker is actually his 17-18 production and not his 18-19 production.

Using one of the most one-sided trades in recent history is such a strange decision. Taylor Hall isn't worth anything cause he was traded for Adam Larsson?
I'd love to go get ROR then, if a first, an iffy prospect and two cap dumps is all it takes

Olofsson and UPL of course I would not touch for Zucker, but I would consider Nylander, I just do not know how to be with him when to play, he gets another injury, in the AHL he is not consistent, in the NHL he seems to be good, but too few games played to judge.

I'd rather give him a shot in the NHL before deciding his fate.

Of course I would have left him, but if another GM will ask him in a deal for help our in the top 6 or top 4, I would at least thought.

Probably would be more inclined to trade Thompson

I, too, Nylander I like more than Thompson, but Botterill just swapped him out with the garbage for ROR, I don't think he wants to trade Thompson.

Then just keep waiting around and hoping prospects pan out in Buffalo then I guess.

Zucker does not. His limited NTC kicks in July 1st, which is why Fenton is shopping him while his options are the entire league instead of whatever the NTC limits him to. If he's still on Minnesota's roster July 1st, I'd think most of the buzz around him being traded will fade.

A Vezina finalist goalie will only cost you a 3rd round pick since that's what Dubnyk cost.

Well.. The Wild has some of the best defensive game in the league, Dubnyk isn't that good in expected goals and would probably look a lot worse on most other teams - all in my opinion of course. But I agree with you in theory

He's incredibly streaky, he'll go stretches where he looks amazing and others where he looks very beatable.
