It opens enough capspace to go UFA shopping and gives us a #4D to help shelter Fabbro.

The issue I have with trading one of our D for another long-term D is the expansion draft. What will the preds do with 4 D signed long-term? (assuming Josi resigns) I don't see them wanting to go 4 - 4 - 1 again. So for that reason I think they want a forward for Subban or expansion draft-exempt players. If they plan on trading another top 4 D, then this trade could work. I would more like it more if it was Risto, Nylander, and 31st for Subban though

I personally think the Preds should get a forward too, but even if we do, noo matter what the Preds are going to be losing a really good player. We just need to lower our salary hit, and this might be the best way to do that. As for the rest of these trades and moves it works out pretty nicely, besides Maroon who likely will not be leaving St. Louis now. Maybe try including Scandella in a deal for Vesey with the Rangers. But overall this isa Grade A assessment,and I really enjoyed this one.
