Way overpay on Hall, he's likely going to walk, Laine alone would be enticing enough.

Laine is literally a fourth liner if it weren't for his shot. NJD wouldn't budge at that.

Can't wait for "The trade is 1 for 1" part 2. That said, I think it's also plausible.

Top Defenseman prospect Winnipeg has. He has an upside of probably Top Pairing.

Yeah I agree that this is an overpayment for Hall. A more realistic trade would be Hall and X for Laine.

Uhhhhhh, he's 21. Hall played 30-something games and is injury prone, as well as likely to walk in free agency.

Well that crappy Laine trade would be a huge win for New Jersey

NJD still wouldn't budge he wants what 10M overpayment. They likely would have to let Laine walk for that kind of cash.

Oh I see.
And what about Logan Stanley? Is he a bust or something?

He probably has a 2nd/3rd Pairing Upside we'll see.

I wouldn't trade Laine for Hall, no way would Winnipeg do this trade.

Also Lipon and some picks probably won't get Brodie. And keep Perreault if you have that much cap space.

Hall is head and shoulders better than Laine. It's not even close.

I think you may be overrating Laine. He's very one dimensional and needs high-end teammates to produce

Sure Hall is a better player right now, but Laine is 6 years younger and has had a much better start to his career than Hall did. He almost won the Rocket in his second season, and has the potential to win many Rockets in his career. He's only 21, and he's only going to get better from here. You don't trade a guy like that with that much potential for an older, injury-prone winger, albeit a very good 1st line winger, who probably wouldn't even re-sign in Winnipeg (even though I'm a Winnipeg fan, I realize its not a popular place to be, and other teams can offer more money and better weather). Hall also isn't a really good fit for our team, we have 2 1st line calibre LWs in Connor and Ehlers, and Laine is the sniper that our team needs. This doesn't make sense for Winnipeg.

The thing about Laine having the chance to win multiple scoring titles is that it's a question mark, paying a player for their potential is a huge risk. You can't say for sure that he will go on to have that type of career (he very well could be a perennial rocket winner but you can't bank on it), I just don't think he'll be as good as Hall at the peak of his career. As for Hall, I don't think you can't really call him injury prone as this was the first year in 4 years where he missed 15+ games and also if you put him on the top line, he could very well become the sniper type winger that you think the Jets need, if you pair Hall (who takes a lot of shots) with a playmaker like Scheifele, not only do you get a winger who can total 40G, you also get a better all-around player.

Not top pairing but he could develop into a good #3. More likely he is a very good #4
