I wonder how long Habs fans will say stuff like "Weber is legit still a top 5 defenceman, can you please take him and give us your best young player?"

So this is Byfuglien for Weber...and Gallagher, Tatar, Lek for Laine. I mean maybe, but why would WPG trade one aging elite Dman for another? doesn't make sense.
aedoran and MTLaveragefan liked this.

I don't want Laine that bad... let's just say he doesn't fit the "attitude" and character that MTL's management are expecting. We have Drouin already... and they are trying to run him out of town... can't imagine a fortnight addicted guy be any different.

I rather wait and see how Caufield turns out...

I'm willing to take the risk. I wouldn't resign Gallagher or Tatar anyway in 2 yrs, might as well get younger and bigger.

Because at least for the next 2 yrs on paper WPG win this trade. After that it depends if Gallagher and Tatar resign.

Ya I'm sending 2 guys that both got more points than Laine and they have combined the same cap hit as what he's gonna get.

My heads says yes and no at the same time. Don't know what to think about that trade tbh lol.

On another note, I'm surprised you wouldn't sign Gallagher in 2 years, why not?

Agreed. Also, Weber has another 7 years on his contract. Why would the Jets take that on when he is already declining?

Exactly...Laine's value is low as he had a terrible year thx to a back injury....Everyone thinks they can get him for way under value...

Cause if he puts up another 30+ season, I'll have to overpay cause of the high taxes. If he doesn't put up 30+ goals his stock will fall.

The cap situation is fine now....it was only bad if they wanted to re-sign all thier UFA's...and those are gone

4 are coming from their Minor contracts...about 3.5M...so 4 for 19M...2 of those getting about 2-2.5 each...meaning Connor and Laine making 7M each...Hence why Laine is getting a bridge

Laine 7? If that's the case he's gonna get an offer sheet.
