I can see Buffalo trying to trade Risto for a top 6 forward but I don't think the Ducks are your team. Rakell is still only 26, they will be trading off players over 30 if they are going to start to rebuild

That is an awful deal for the ducks, as far as I'm concerned Rakell should be untouchable, There are much better RD options for us if that is the ask for risto. You dont trade star forwards on a steal of a contract for a guy worse than brandon montour

Yup, just as Botterill did with Skinner, Miller and Jokiharju. Rakell would be the perfect addition, over six foot tall, 26 yo, 2 year term and less than $4,000,000/yr.

Start ripping off? Skinner for 2nd, 3rd, 6th and Pu, Miller for 2nd and 5th, and last Jokiharju for Nylander (even Vesey for a 3rd was a very good deal compared to Burakovsky for Kosmachuk, 2nd and 3rd). Betterall has been doing this for the last 12 months.

This ain't fair value so I'll take it, but I'll even add on Buffalo's end. Not too crazy. If they wanted a first I'd look elsewhere for sure.

Botts really only bad trade was the ROR one which ownership forced him into.

I'd love Rackell for Risto, especially if he can play C.

I agree that Rackell would be a great return for Ristolainen. I wonder if Kruger will try Johansson at center. Marcus was drafted as a center and he did play some when he first entered the NHL. Finally, he is more of a play maker than a sniper with 214 career assists and only 120 goals.
In hind site the O'Reilly trade does look bad.
While Terry may have force Betterall to trade O'Reilly remember Ryan devalued himself when he said he quit on the team. Then compare what Ottawa was able to get for Hoffman whose wife devalued him. Finally, Thompson, Ryan Johnson (2019 draft) and Miller is a pretty good return for a captain who gave up.

I like the idea of Reinhart/Johansson swapping C duties, or even Casey as 2C but actually having good linemates to help him in 90/23. Erod at 3C.
