so jackets are one key superstar away from contending?
i mean you made the playoffs last year but you just lost panarin, duchene, dzingel, and bobrovsky. No matter how good marner is, the jackets are unquestionably a worse team this year with or without him.
I think most expect the jackets to miss the playoffs this year.
Lets be honest, the only one out of that group that isn't replaceable is Panarin. Dzingel did little for CBJ 21 games 4 goals. You act like that was some great contribution. 9 playoff games 1 goal. He was a total disappointment and it cost him dollars on his next contract. He's by far, an easy replacement.
Bob....perennial playoff choker. I look forward to seeing elvis in net. In my opinion it's an upgrade on their playoff chances. With bob it was just a matter of when they would lose, not if.
Duchene has been a cancer everywhere he's gone. He's a decent player but he's over rated. Truth be told he had a strong playoffs with CBJ but the regular season play was pathetic. 23 games, 4 goals. If you think that was losing some great talent you are high as a kite. His and Dzingel's poor play for CBJ almost cost them a playoff spot. On top of it, his being on the team would get in the way of both Tex and Foudy. So I have no problem letting a 28 year old player who wants 7 years at a massive cap hit walk. The effect on the team will not be as great as you want to make it out to be.
Panarin does hurt. There is no doubt about that. OS marner might make up for that. Especially if the cost is only 2 1sts. I could see this happen. I don't personally think it's the answer. I would really like to see CBJ get a true 40 goal scorer not another, 20 some goals and a bunch of assists. They need a real legit weapon on the ice who is a pure danger with the puck. They lack that. It's the one piece that is preventing them from winning a cup. If they find that piece watch out. I don't think Marner is that piece.
