No buyouts, bury Smith and Belesky, maybe trade Kreider at the TDL or mid-season if necessary.
Would the Islanders have interest in bringing Strome back? Hear they're looking for a 3C.

The Oilers would take that in a heartbeat - the Rangers would need something more significant coming back for ADA - but that third round pick cant be traded unless it's a conditional pick, as it's the same third rounder that's tied to the Lucic-Neal swap.

Rather the Isles go for a Boyle or Brassard. Just don’t think they’d want Strome back.

Not sure the FO wants, but as an Isles fan, I'd love to have Strome back. He's not a top-6 forward and I don't think the Islanders will play him in that role, so I'm down

I would hold Deangelo. Ethan Bear is not NHL level prospect...ceiling is probably as 6th/7th man.

Bear is a RHD prospect that replaces Deangelo and he's almost nhl ready if he isn't already.
Brodziak is only a $75K cap hit if buried in the minors, he's there to facilitate the trade for Edmonton which happens all the time.

Damn I forgot that, then insert a 2021 3rd.
The point of this is that the Rangers need cap space, I don't think the Oilers would have to add too much, maybe another B-grade prospect should get it done.

I've done it from the Oilers side and it fits, barely but it does.
It's better than buyouts, Deangelo is expendable.

Explain how?
Nam alone = 4 million

They have less 2.5 in cap space now.

DeAngelo gets 3.5 million imo

I had Deangelo at less than that, $2.4M on a one year deal. Oilers play hardball with him.
It may have been with Manning to the Rangers not Brodziak though.

Based on the deals handed, no way he signs for that.

Evolving Hockey has Deangelo at 6 x $4.6M, with an almost equal probability of a 2 x $2.25M bridge deal. I think either is reasonable for a mock.
