If you compare it to Kane’s 2nd contract it should be around 8.75. But kane never had a C make way more than he was supposed to. So that’ll drive mitch up probably to 9.25-9.5

This, this right here @SammyT_51 is what the Leafs need on defense and I'm not be sarcastic. McQuaid would be a solid shutdown guy for the Leafs and I would actually be pissed if McQuaid went to Toronto.

Leafs management is incredible right now. Unfortunately they had to trade away Connor Brown and a 1st (hopefully the last pick in the 1st round) to undo some of the old regime's cap mismanagement.
No question that drafting and development have been top notch, and though little is said about European scouting, they consistently sign Europeans who could make an impact. (See: playing then trading Lindholm, Rosen, Borgman)
I'm excited to see Mihkeyev this year too, he could be their first European add to be a big factor, and under $1M cap hit!

I'm not so sure about McQuaid. He is a big body, but his corsi relative to team has been awful, as well as raw corsi and fenwick. Babcock definitely likes his big rear enders though, so he would get thrown into the action if signed...

I'm definitely not saying I disagree with you...but a 1-year 700k contract or PTO, I don't see how the Leafs can go wrong. I don't have confidence in him being able to keep up with our team but he can be a healthy scratch until we need him or add some toughness to our Marlies, worst-case scenario.
