Fair enough. Jets just need him moved to clear cap. He's worth a pick in the 50-100 range IMO but maybe not.

Brassard cannot sign a deal with performance bonuses/incentives, only players signing ELC or one year 35+ deals are eligible for such bonuses

Yea, we are in a situation now where teams aren't making trades for "on the ice value", it's for cap value. Perrault a handy player for two years...the return in August, just will be happy getting a 7th rounder. It's a buyers market. Other teams are going to have jettison cap soon. My initial impression that the Leafs giving up a first rounder to dump the 6.25m of Marleau was too much. The cost would be more now...if you could find a team with cap space.

Your RFA signings....almost to good to be true.

have to ask a Winnipeg fan, how much do you think Laine will sign for? $8 million for 3 years seems like to much for the term, $8 million over 5 is more in line with my thinking

He is so difficult to value. Elite goal scorers get paid and he is in some lofty company in that regard even with slumps factored in. On the other hand, he has been a 5 on 5 gong show. So many turnovers and loose plays. I still believe that he will become a franchise winger, but he hasn't done enough yet to merit a long-term 8 figure contract. Ideally, a $7M bridge deal would be what I would like to see. Let him prove he is worthy of the major payday without offending the fact that he has accomplished so much in his teens. To my knowledge, that would be the highest bridge deal ever accepted.

That's what I mean, the guy can score 20 goals a month but his analytics 5 on 5 are just horrible and the slumps seem to be never ending. All I have heard this summer is he wants $10 million and I just cant justify that kind of money for him, not until he plays consistent hockey for at least a season

Laine will develop into an incredible player but the reality is that he was relegated to the third line at even strength. Can't put 10% of payroll into a power-play specialist. If he wants to get paid, take a bridge and prove you are worth it. If you want to be a douche and hold out, flip him for a 2C and a RHD. Connor would happily take all those sauce passes from Wheeler on the PP.
