I think he can’t be trade because he’s making too much, like Vlasic for San Jose. If Colorado retained 2M, they could fetch a good return IMO

He's paid fairly for right now, maybe just a tad on the high side, but 6m for a Dman who plays heavy minute all situations In your top 4, its pretty market value. Just based on the length and his age, he will be over paid as the D core is handed over more and more to the young guys in Makar, Girard, and Byram.

Both are unknown quantities, but lemme try the math problem. Shattenkirk was overpaid and bought out as a 5M player, but will be massively underpaid this year at 1.5. His value is about 3M, which is just about the average salary of one average NHL regular. So Shattenkirk= 1 player.

Chris Stewart's been a bit inconsistent, and is probably worth about 1M this year, or one third of one average player. So.... let's see... dividing by fractions, so we.... multiply by the reciprocal, and.....

I think the only real bad thing for him is the NMC in the contract. Having to protect him over a young D is rough. He brings what we need in our defense and thats some grit and toughness to counter the other smaller D in girard, Makar, and in another year timmins and byram.
