Marner making Matthews money

Created by: Eli
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 7, 2019
Published: Sep. 7, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
When Dermott and Hyman are healthy, the team can trade Anderson, Ceci, or Kapanen for cap relief. Until then, they're fine.

I gave Marner a little more than Matthews, because he scores more points, gets injured less, and is giving up a couple years of UFA, here.

Okay. Besides games played, how is Anderson better with the Leafs than Hutchinson? And if Hutchinson improves that much behind a solid two-way team like the Leafs, then how decent will Neuvirth, Domingue, or Copley be at backup? Columbus would take Anderson off your hands and give you a 3rd round pick, I bet. You could get Domingue or Copley for a 4th, and sign Neuvirth on a two-way deal for depth and playoff experience. I know Anderson has won one more playoff round than Neuvirth, but in a Leafs sweater, they're tied. smile

Besides tavares, Andersen is the leafs best asset, also I'm sure you could get back more than a 3rd for him, especially from Jersey which would catapult them up the standings.. it's easy to say Andersen has inflated stats because his team scores alot but is dog**** defensively... if you saw 40 shots a night for 60 games a year you'd get a bit worn out also

Sometimes it's hard to tell if people on here are joking or not. If you are, you've drawn it out a bit too long. Saying "Hey, we could get a 3rd for one of the top 10 goalies in the league, and then turn around and give a 4th for any number of sieves" is a bold, bold strategy.

Yup, and even seeing 40 shots a night, he's still got excellent numbers.

Is there a link you can show that getting a bunch of soft perimeter shots each night makes it hard to have a good save percentage, behind a team that scores first and limits real scoring chances? Thanks.

If you want to trade Andersen to NJ and give them 10M of overrated backups behind Blackwood, go for it! My post was about Marner not actually breaking the bank. Given the seven hundred million Leafs posts on here about how Marner is totally breaking the bank for this team, I'm just like....

Ok, you were serious. That's fine. Here are two stats that should help you.

-Freddy had the 7th highest goals saved above average. 3rd among goalies that played 50 or more games. That's pretty good.
-For goalies that played 50 or more games last year, he had the 5th highest dSv%. That's the stat that goes further into sv% by taking into account shot quality, not just quantity (Shot type, shot distance, shot angle, and whether the shot was a rebound, rush shot, or on the power play).

Freddy >>>>>>>> Every one of those guys that you listed by a long shot.

Are there actually hockey fans that don’t think Andersen is a top 15 goalie in the league lmfao. YIKES. Even I know that Andersen is a top goalie and I think Martin jones is good.

Andersen is a top ten regular season goalie, for sure. He won two playoff rounds in Selanne's best postseason, but he's 0-2 behind Matthews and company. What do you think CBJ offer?

Quit while you're behind man.. Andersen is a solid tender. Toronto is selling the guy especially while hes under contract at that avv while his comparables are getting 8+

Andersen isn’t a cap dump or being sold tho. He’s making 5 which is incredibly affordable. They will need a goalie by the end of his contract or extend him so they would only move him for another goalie or valuable assets after acquiring a goalie/ knowing they have another goalie.
