If McDavid demanded a trade and would only agree to going to TO, the return would be so much lower than McDavid should cost. I'd bet at that time, Edmonton would ask for Matthews + and possibly would have to settle for just Matthews. Getting a franchise centre back would be paramount for them. And for all the non Leaf fans that are going to go nuts and call me a homer, understand that I hope it never comes to this scenario because its going to kill that fanbase. Having the best player in the league and only one place to negotiate, would result in such an unfair trade. Its also why I don't believe McDavid is tradeable. Edmonton would never get a fair value for him. Edmonton imagines trading McDavid to TO would get them Matthews, Rielly and picks and that is a bad trade for TO to make. Sure McDavid is better than Matthews but he's not better than Matthews and Rielly and adding picks makes it even worse. So a trade would only happen if McDavid wanted out and if he wants out, and limits his potential destinations, that puts Edmonton over a barrel.
