I wouldnt trade Sheary straight up for silverberg. That contract is brutal and he has literally has negative value. Duck fans are going to mad and love him for some dumb reason but he is going to be 30 and signed for another 4 years after this.

Then you can keep him. Sabres do not need a 40 point winger on the decline and overpaid.

Yeah for how long can he play defense at level at 30. He is not worth that money and his point total will drop. he is overpaid third liner. I know ducks love him but they are the only ones. Except duck fans keep trying to trade him? in two years he will trash and will be praying that Seattle takes him.

No they wont. looks,
3 dman Lindholm, Fowler and Manson
6 Forwards Steel, Kase, Rakell Ritchie jones Lundestrom

Other forwards fighting with him for one spot are Henrigue, Getzlaf, Shore, Terry.
Ps they will lose Guhle or Larsson because no one want silverbrg or henrigue

Who tf is protecting Ritchie? Also Getzlaf is UFA so he’s not fighting for protection. Try again.

If he plays this year and next i believe that will be his third year so he will not exempted. I could be wrong but still have other players.

Maybe he'll be as good at playing defense at 34 as Patrice Bergeron is. One thing is for sure -- he's better at playing defense now than any of your current forwards ever will be. And I note that his 24 goals last year were more than any forward on your team except for Jeff Skinner and Jack Eichel, neither of which will ever be considered a "two-way" player, let alone Selke Trophy quality. So go right ahead, disparage Silfverberg all you want.

Getzlaf will be a free agent, ritchie isnt in their long term plans, amd they can always make a trade to prevent someone from being taken

He didnt get single vote last year and 7 votes in past 3 years. Johnsson has 8 votes. You guys are acting like he is Bergeon or mark stone. He is not even close he is above average and below average offensively. But most importantly he is old and overpaid. He is little to no value it is pretty simple.

The point is they dont have to because Seattle will not take him even if he available. Also, do you remember Vegas it is pretty hard to make a trade to protect players. Ducks are one of the worst teams in the league and will losing good player. Imagine the position a good team will be in. A lot of teams will be in the same spot and almost impossible to get any value for player other teams know you will lose.

As I recall, Anaheim was able to negotiate a deal with Las Vegas whereby the Golden Knights took the inoperative Clayton Stoner in the expansion draft and received Shea Theodore so that the Ducks wouldn't lose Cam Fowler, Hampus Lindholm, Josh Manson or Brandon Montour, so your referring us to that particular precedent isn't very persuasive. And the Ducks may have been one of the worst teams in the League last year, but as I recall, Buffalo finished below them.

"Below average offensively"?!? That assertion is belied by the fact that he would have been fourth on your team in scoring last year even with a career-low performance. "Overpaid"?!? Nonperforming useless mouths like Sobotka and Bogosian are overpaid. "Old"?!? I'll bet you have no clue as to whether he's above or below the median age of current players in the NHL. And I'll bet that when (if) you find out, facts still won't stop you from mindlessly hurling insults at players you know little to nothing about.

So you think that was good you lost a legit top 4 dman.

The problem is that contract is terible for aging player past his prime and you are trading for 40+ point dman and is only 24 and signed for 2 more years. Look what Montour got you. We expect at least that.

Meanwhile sabres can not afford paying 3rd line player that much money. No good team can. If he is so good why are you trading him?

Yep. Because, unlike your team, we had sufficient depth to absorb such a loss. Sufficient depth, in fact, to continue by trading another top-4 defenseman to YOU.

We're not trading him! This is a Buffalo-generated post -- one of your Buffalo colleagues is making a laughable attempt to steal him for a defensively hopeless defenseman. And if you think that Ristolainen is worth a late first-round pick and an A prospect, then you are free to solicit such an offer from any one of the multiple teams that need a RhD -- like Las Vegas, Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton, to name a few. Although I would have thought that by now, Botterill would have made approaches to all of these teams. I guess that to you, the fact that no deal has happened means that your GM hasn't tried yet. My understanding is quite the contrary -- Botterill has been shopping Ristolainen around the League and there are no takers.

You are getting bad information, Has not shopped him . Has taken calls. Besides that you have not seen him play this year. New coaching staff is doing great things with him
