St. Louis not trading one of the top 3 or 4 RHD for anything less than a top forward, let alone tesding a 2nd round pick as part of the package. Try again.

So overpay for Ritchie, seriously Johnson is worth way more

Then underpay for Parayko (we should be ecstatic if Sandin is as good as parayko)

Sure....

He's damn good, but is he really top 3 or 4 in the league? Sounds a stretch...

Hedman, Karlsson, Doughty, Burns easy.

Then I would put Subban, Jones, and Carlson.

Then it's Parayko and Pietro. You can decide which is better

Hedman yes I agree
Karlsson probably but the last two years have not been his best
Doughty probably again but the last year was rough.
Burns yes
Subban no for the simple reason he might be a cancer. Traded twice from one good team and from a very good team.
Jones equal, but upside will pole vault him over most on this list
Carlson yes right now but will want to see if this continues.

Lastly, most teams are now transitioning to big defenseman based on the AP, Hedman and Parayko model. If you have one thing others are copying why would you trade that, espicially if just won the cup. I understand if he was 32 and carried a big cap hit but he is 26 and the cap hit is very good.

You simply cannot be serious with that Parayko "offer" - and yet, you surely are.

Reality: Blues laugh their asses off, hang up, cut the line and delete your contact.

Oh certainly not suggesting he be traded. Just saying he's more top 10 than top 3-4.

I also don't think Subban is a "cancer" (I also here using that word for sports, hits to hard).

He never got along in Montreal because they hated him having a personality. In Nashville they needsd the cap room to pay Josi this summer.

Stanley Cup destiny? Let's just win a playoff round.
Those trades really don't make the Leafs much better this year and certainly hurt long term.

Fixed the trades. Better? If not what would make it work in your view?

Kapanen becomes their #2RW imediatly. And he still has potential upside. Ceci and Sandin help make up the gap considering return players.

Also upped the trade. What deal would work in your mind?

These trades make the team exponentially better. They fill in exactly the BIG obvious gaps in exactly the right places the team needs.

Right now teams have no fear out muscling the Leafs. Parayko is 6'6 240 that hits, skates, and has a blasting point shot. Most importantly he clears traffic in front of the net. Something only Muzzin does now.

Folingo brings grit, scoring, plays both wings, and he will defend teammates. Plus the allumni factor of his father. Ritchie is exactly the same. Suddenly on line 1 and 2 we would have tough scoring threats that get in front of the other teams goalies and cause mayhem. They also create room for guys like Tavares, Mathews, Marner and Nylander.

Hayden is like a poor mans Wilson. But Wash ins't trading Wilson anytime soon.
