Is Jensen really a fit

Created by: staytru20
Team: 2019-20 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 7, 2019
Published: Nov. 7, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This would also help the Caps' cap situation slightly this season, and free up cap for next season since Jensen has 4 more years on his contract. This would help add space for re-signing Backstrom, and keeping money in the coffers for an Ovi and Vrana extension the season after.
Trades
WSH
  1. Holden, Nick
  2. 2020 5th round pick (VGK)
VGK
  1. Jensen, Nick
  2. Johansen, Lucas
Additional Details:
Thinking this could be a possible trade or bones of a trade that Vegas could go after. They lack mobility on their back-end, and Jensen fits that need. Johansen could help sweeten the pot here too.

I can definitely see him as a fit for a team like Toronto or Tampa where they love to attack and Jensens skating is great. I was actually kinda surprised how good it actually was. He can get the puck out with ease. What would you like for him if Toronto called? (considering they would trade Ceci at that point)

I agree with you. I honestly don’t know if he’s a good fit for us. He’s not bad don’t get me wrong but I was expecting more I guess?

I was dying for Jensen to come to the leafs last year! They would need to unload Ceci's contract (and could retain $$), and guys available are Moore, Timashov, Bracco, none of whom quite make for a fair deal.... Any interest in Hyman or Mikheyev? I'd hate to see Mikheyev go, but he'd fit in with the RMNB. As much as ACGM thinks Kapanen and Johnsson are available, they probably aren't.

Jensen is great. I wouldn't move him.

And if we were, I wouldn't do for that package.

Caps will have plenty of room for years since Holtby will be gone.

Jensen would not be that expensive. Mikheyev is not going anywhere at this point imo. I think that maybe Bracco gets it done? considering Jensen is not a good fit with Caps.

If he's good defensively and comes that cheap, Chicago should trade for him. Maybe like Koekkoek and a mid round pick?

After losing Niskanen and Orpik, and adding Jensen and Gudas, the Caps' PK went from 24th to 8th so far.

Their GA/GP has moved up from 19th to 17th.

Yes, Panik and Hagelin help, but Panik is injured. Yes, Orpik slowed down a bit last year, but Niskanen has the Flyers one point out of a wild card right now. So the Caps gave up a terrific defenseman and improved defensively by adding two pretty good ones.

It's tough to find a scapegoat on a first place team, and you might not need to.
