It'll take more than Galch and more or less scraps to get AA

What would be your offer then? Simon would be thrown in and replace Ruhwedel.

Not sure, I'm not sure he's really attainable with our current assets, just thinking this out while typing this, take out everything except Galch, so you have Galch for AA, but PIT would need to add due to Galch's pending UFA status, and AA's value to DET, so I'm thinking maybe Galch, with an extension, maybe Riikola instead of Ruhwedel, and one of our better specs for AA, probably an overpay, but that's what it'll likely take to get him from DET

Athanasiou is very over rated. He over reached offensively last year and has gone back to the void this year. Defense and physicality are less than Kessel. Meh offense, no D, no physical play... Let Red Wing fans keep him and keep telling themselves that he is something special.

Victor Rask and Jack Johnson may be close to equal, but the WIld don't need an 8th defenseman, so forward depth may be considered more valuable and Olund doesn't seem like he's worth a 4th.

Wings fan here. Not sure how I feel about this. I've always liked Galchenyuk but he hasn't done much since leaving Montreal so he doesn't have much value here. I do like DeSmith as part of the package though

You know I don't mind any of these deals. You have great value in all trades. Nice Job! It takes a lot to impress me when doing Armchair Gm's with Pit.

Johnson has been an actual useful player this year. Rask not so much. And Rask carries a higher cap hit.
I'll pass on that.
It's a lot easier to move defense men than it is to move wingers. Lets not believe for one second there is equal value there. There isn't.

The point of my comment was it doesn't fill a need for the Wild to make that swap... I think you took the comparison of Johnson and Rask too much to heart there. Rask, while not great to have, fits in fine on the Wild as the 13th forward whereas Johnson may be the 7th-9th defenseman on the team once Pateryn is healthy. Not to mention Johnson also has longer term. Wild likely won't be pinching pennies for cap space the next 2-3 years, so they might as well eat the (slightly) higher AAV, shorter term contract.
