So...of all the players to pick from (they have all played poorly) you name Petan? How about Rielly or Muzzin?

Pretty obvious answer. The Wizard, Babcock, asked the players. "Who wants to go on the PP?" No one answered. So Babcock went in reverse seniority and Petan drew the short straw. Nick you HAVE to go on the ice.

Petan made a nice play to assist on Spezzas goal and then later on Spezza makes a pass into Petan's feet and he turns it over which lead to that Pens goal, story of Petan's career unfortunately.

I think the Leafs current problems go far beyond
Nic Petan or their backup goaltender though.

Rielly and Muzzin have been terrible tonight and they both get more ice time than Petan.

If I have to type out the fact that in the grand scheme of things, Petan's one little play doesn't matter compared to the two players I just mentioned...then you must not understand hockey much.

Hes ok on the pp. The reason hes on waivers is cause they didnt have cap or roster space. Now with the injuries he has been given a chance. Hes always been skilled but babcock refuses to play him

The serious answer is probably because of his offensive performance in the AHL (7 points in 3 games). But he's getting pounced by the opponents since his callup, especially during puck battles in the neutral zone.

The Leafs have a couple major issues that extend beyond Nic Petan. The issue is that without a full and healthy lineup, Babcock, Dubas, have basically all the excuses in the world. So, it's possible, you could see the Leafs go under .500 before Marner, Kerfoot come back and no real/big changes will be made. Personally, I find that very frustrating, as I am sure many Leafs fan would, but as I've said before, I doubt the Leafs make any bold/serious moves before the holiday trade freeze.
