I have no problem adding a 3rd but hawks would have to retain money on murphy’s Contract if they want it.

This trade was based on the idea that ceci would be going back the other way at 19-20 deadline. Should’ve made that clear

Hawks reject NYR trade. Tying up almost 12 mil to two Stromes for the next 5-6 years is not a good idea.

Agree. I’d rather keep those parts, most importantly Kubalik. I also think Maatta could probably get us a third alone and adding Cags maybe could bump that up to a 2nd round or maybe a second draft pick like two thirds?

The Hawks aren't sending Murphy to TOR for Andreas Johnsson. Wingers are the easiet position to fill. Don't need to lose a top 4 RHD to do it.

Unless it's Kap with bigger upside then Johnsson.

That’s fine but all it does is add value. Ceci could be moved for a pick, probably a 5th. Johnsson for Murphy seems about fair 1 for 1. Murphy is an rhd and Johnsson has a bit more term. Think Johnsson would be a perfect fit in the Hawks. I think Murphy could be useful to the leafs as well.

Yeah maybe, but they still need D more than Wingers. Seabs out. DeHaan out. Both maybe forever? IDK, it would take more IMO. Hawks have solid winger prospects took. I really want to see Kurashev get NHL ice time this year and Teply's turning out to be a heck of a 4th round pick too.

Hawks need a 1st line winger; none of the prospects are projected that high and Nylander ain't it. If Kane plays up, then we have a hole on the 2nd line. Kurashev, Hagel, Wedin, Highmore, Quenneville, none of these guys should be top line wingers.

I hear that a lot but I find Johnsson to be the better of the two with less experience.

I agree they need a 1st line winger and KK might solve it, but they'd definitely lose their best RHD. I'm not saying I wouldn't make the trade. I just wouldn't do it straight up. IMO, a 1 for 1 makes the Hawks a worse team after the treade... so TOR would need to add.

Different types of players and yes johnsson is more "steady" is the word I would use. However, Hawks need a speedy dynamic winger which more accurately describes Kap IMO.

I don't disagree Tor should add slightly to that trade. With Mitchell and Boqvist though, where does that leave Murphy beyond 1 more season? Hawks need to focus on long term as these short term "fixes" the past couple seasons aren't working albeit with Bowman making them anyhow.
