Honestly I'd give him that from the Leafs and trade Andersen.

I think he’s getting at least 7 mill for that term.

For 6 years he's gonna be over 7 mil. Maybe closer to 8.I don't think he re-signs in Chicago. He wanted to prove he wasn't a benefactor of the Isles D core and he's done it. Now go to a contender and get paid

He loves Chicago and has openly said that time and time again, including in an interview today, and wants to be part of the turn around here. However, he's going to end up going to the top few bidders and if Chicago is not one then he's gone.

What do you want him to say?
"Nah the city is a sh*thole, it's way too windy. I miss New York. Maybe next I can play in LA, it seems to be a grat city" He's not gonna speak poorly of the city, very few NHL players do.

Lehner has gone on and on about coming back here. He can simply say, like most players in his shoes do, "I would like to be back this is a great place to play" but he goes on everytime he's asked how he loves the team, city, all the players he enjoys personally, loves mentoring the young guys, talks about the fans, and most importantly says I want to be a part of turning this team around and being a leader of the team. Blackhawks do hold the record still for consecutive sellout crowds...not easy to do with 23K tickets a night.

You can tell when a player is giving a canned answer and when they mean what they are saying. He is also saying though "this is a business" basically saying chicago needs to be a top tier bidder and if they are I'll stay.

Maybe you can with most teams, but don't you think you're a little close to this as a hawks fan? They're hockey players, they'll say one thing and leave ASAP. It's what they do. See literally anyone ever

Just accept there's zero chance he'll sign in Carolina.

Read/watch all the interviews with him, he wants to stay but money talks. Like I said, if Chicago is a top 2 or 3 bidder, chances are he stays. Furthermore, let's see if he extends as apparently talks just started between the hawks and his agent.

I think there is a pretty good chance he signs in Chicago as long as they show they're fully committed to him (unlike NYI who were trying for Bob at the same time). Probably like 7-8mill does it.

Yes, totally agree that is around the number but who knows, maybe some team throws stupid money at him! But there is a lot to be said for playing in front of a sellout crowd of close to 23K a night and a top 5 franchise.

Where did I say he'd sign in Carolina? I think he's incredibly overrated tbh. He's either on and good, or he can sh*t himself. I would much rather target someone liek Jaro Halak

Nah I was more so just teasing lol. Lehner is really good this year, +12 GSAA. Halak or a guy like Khudobin would also be solid options.

Andersen is elite. Problem is, Leafs won't be able to afford him (or Lehner imo). It's going to be interesting to see how the goalie market goes especially after Bobrovsky got the contract he has after only one playoff appearance.

Yeah, Bob's contract screwed every team that has a RFA/UFA goalie for sure...pushed the overall cost in the market up 25%.

I don't know if Andersen is elite. If you're looking at the body of work of current players, guys like Lehner, Lundqvist, Bishop, Rask, Gibson, Rinne, Vas, Khudobin, Schneider, all have better sv% and then tied with Andersen is Crow, Price, Bob, Holtby and those guys all have a lot more games under their belts.

My only counter to you about Andersen is that Toronto isn't great defensively, both as a D core and as an overall team and so some his stats suffer because of that.

You are absolutely right about Bobrovsky inflating the goalie market by at least 25%.

How much do you think guys like Holtby and Murray get based on their cup wins? Because you gotta think that factors into them into a certain range of salary.

I have no idea on Holtby and Murray both will be interesting arguments. Pretty certain Lehner gets between $7M and $8M though.

Makes Lehner even more elite then given Hawks face 35.6 shots per game average vs. Leafs 32.7

I'd prefer to target Halak, look on EH goalie charts at Halak and then look at Lehner.... Halak >>>

Lehner is a great and really likeable guy so it's best for the Hawks to resign him however he'd cost 7-7.5 million for that term 6. I
