Nah I know Bracco and a pick isn’t enough, but Kapanen? When has a team ever traded a 2RW with more potential for a fringe starter?

Let's put your definition of a 2RW in perspective; Kap is on pace for 16 goals...not exactly top 6 game changer.

Here is reality.

Georgiev is currently a backup goalie.
Goalies are mostly a crap when it comes to projection/potential.

In recent years, what did a backup in similar situations go for?
Grubauer is good example.
It was cap dump (5.5 cap hit) and Grubauer for a 2nd rounder.

And how do Grubauer's number compare to Georgiev before Grubauer were traded?

I'll let another person point out those stats
@Random2152 is good choice, love me evil stats.

My point is, without a cap dump included how is Georgiev's value Kapanen????
Just GTFO.

Aren't you the guy who's a huge Saad fan?
Kapanen and Saad are basically on the exact same point per game pace, is Saad a 2LW?

I think people see what others saw in Talbot, Raanta, etc back in the day. So naturally NYR will attempt to get a high price based on how those guys did.

That guy is a Blackhawks homer who thinks he's unbiased. He can think whatever he wants...as delusional as it may be.

People just glossed over my point about Grubaur and Bishop...it's cool. Whatever, what else can one expect from Capfriendly?

Check your facts buddy. Saad is on pace for 27 goals (excluding 10 games injured with a ankle). On top of that, Saad is also better defensively. Saad is simply a more complete player then Kap, there's a reason Kap only got a $3.2M contract.

and 11 less goals; I'll take the goals and superior defensive play over the extra 2 points

Regardless, more value than a fringe starter

I would never argue that, but Kap is a middle 6 player...really a 3rd liner on a deep team. His cap hit is fair and reflects what he is. I don't get people overhyping him so much on here...especially Leaf fans but they overhype anyone on the team and are quick to crap on a player the minute he gets traded. Kap is a supporting role player. He's extremely fast and exciting to watch which is why likely he is overhyped but assuming you know what to look for, you would realize he forces the game instead of letting the game come to him...watch how he overskates at times, loses puck control or makes bad passing decisions; he's young and as he grows he will get better IMO. He has a lot of the right tools to be a solid top 6 impact player, but he's not there today.

I'm sure many would take the younger, cheaper and RFA player.

Any team going into the playoffs and truly competing for a cup would take Saad over Kap. Saad is exactly the kind of player you want in the playoffs; extremely strong on the puck...very hard to knock off the puck, plays in dirty areas, strong on the boards, and defensively good. Speed alone kills in the playoffs which is what the Leafs have found out in recent years.

Fair enough, but like I said, the point is that players like that don't get traded for fringe starters

And that was the point I was making when bringing up Grubaur and Bishop. They were just backups when they were traded...same as Georgiev is right now.
