Not even gonna comment on the actual trade but good luck with the chances of Buffalo not being on Staal’s no trade list

Sheary isn’t the type of guy the Avs are really looking for.

I know there is Ristolainen love, he has made 3 of 4 good defensive plays this season, but that seems like a lot to give up for a 3rd pair dman. Unless Minn trades Dumba or Spurgeon...

Small fact, Foligno would be 4th in ppg on the Sabres.

And a 2nd rd pick....

Have a feeling the Hawks may listen to offers for Dylan Strome, given he's an RFA and needs a new contract and the emergence of Dach as the season has gone on, I think Strome is just too expensive for a 3C on the Hawks as Dach is going to take his job soon at the 2C.

And no, Hawks don't want or need Risto

Gotta agree. I was a big Dach fan at the draft and thought the Avs were going to take him at 4. Have been super impressed with him, He is going to be a load when he fills out.

Risto only has value to a GM who doesn’t know what he’s doing - so maybe he’s in the right place already.

You're not making the playoffs this year so what is the point of trading for a bandaid solution? stall will be 36 next year. If he performs decently next year, then what? Are you going to solve your future centre problem with a 36 year old?

Sheary has good possession stats and cup experience. He would be depth

they solve their Center issues at the draft. They have Cozens coming up and Mittelstadt currently. Having Staal is much more of a plan than expecting Cozens to step in as 2C next year or forcing Mitts back into the NHL.

Staal is 35 with 1 year left and Foligno's value doesnt increase because he has mostly PPGs, i would take that as a negative

The Avs don’t need depth forward that is 5’8” 175#. In their bottom 6, PEB, Calvert, Nieto, Compher, Nichushkin
and Jost, Sheary only has more pts than Jost and he is smaller than all of them. In addition they have Kamenev, and Wilson should eventually come back. Not knocking Sheary, but being small, not killing penalties, not taking face offs, and not being right handed pretty much makes him exactly what the Avs don’t need.

I hope so. If he can play with edge ( hit on Roussel from the last game) he will create more space and time on the ice to be productive.

I wouldn’t worry about that. He is a sick facilitator, and imo has elite vision and passing skills, I thought his skating might be an issue because of comps to Cozens but he is just fine in that department. Hawks just need to be smart in his development keep him with a goal scorer set him up with a great skills and skating coach in the off season and I think they have a top 10 C.
