Avs would be better off acquiring Robin Lehner from Chicago.

I could be wrong, but the Pens will retain both of their goalies through the expansion draft unless they trade one. That is two more playoff runs with Sid and Geno before age may start to catch up with them.

I think the Pens wouldn't engage in any talks for either of them without a prospect the caliber of Byram coming back. It is a high ask but the value of having two guys that can start against good teams is extremely high. I'm sure Avs fans would agree with their goalie situation at the moment. I hope Grubauer isn't as bad as management seems to be fearing.

The thing is Matt Murray hasn't been as good as during both season in which he won back-to-back cups. You have to consider also the fact that he's most likely the odd-man out in the 2021 expansion draft which decreases his trade value. Byram is too much unless he comes close to his first 2 season performance.

He still has had very good stretches. Watch the last 25 games last season. He is the only reason the Pens made the playoffs. When he gets hot he is very tough to beat if the team is scoring at all.

This trade does very little to help the Pens in 2020 and 2021. For that reason, the Pens will ask a small ransom for one of those guys unless you are giving pieces to plug in this year and next year.

You have to remember the desire of the team you are trading with. The Pens just gave up a first and their best d prospect for Zucker. They aren't going to give up one of their two NHL starters for less than a stud. That is my opinion, but I normally watch every Pens game and interview, live or on replay. This seems to be the last ditch effort for the pens. (Malkins contract duration)

Penguins won't deal Murray mid-season. He's back to his usual self and playing lights out since January. Offseason is where to watch the Penguins, with both goalies being RFAs. Cap world it's not ok to pay 2 goalies over $10 million, which would end up being the case if they go in that direction.

and pens say hard pass as well. Murray is worth more than a bottom pairing D, fringe NHLer, and late first
