Without the scraps

Created by: Icarus
Team: 2019-20 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 24, 2020
Published: Feb. 24, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
We traded the expendables and guys not part of the future. We picked up some RD depth, picks, and a couple of prospects that could still develop. I’m hoping with the team thinned out we can finish low and get a nice top 3. We also have another first round pick that will come late, which the ducks have done well with historically. Let’s see how it goes.

Ducks were a real dark horse in this TDL. They won all of their TDL (and surrounding) trades. Heinen and Milano have real chance to become something here

That's a pretty big W for the ducks. Anyone who thinks not is stuck in the past. Kase is not a 30 goal scorer.

I wouldn’t go big W but as a duck fan I think they did fine. Backes lowers the return a bit but a first and a RD prospect is a solid return. If they waive Backes and get a contract termination out of it next season it becomes even better.

you're not doing anything with that cap anyway. Not really desperate for that, no?

You guys should be really pleased with that Heinen trade.

I'll be pleased with any draft slot between 1 and 6.

For Anaheim, cap hits are just Monopoly money, because we have an almost unlimited budget. Not that Alex Pietrangelo is going to sign here, anyway.

I mean it could cause a problem if they decide to spend. Perry’s buyout jumps to $6M next season. That’s $10M in wasted cap space.

The Ritchie trade looks decent on paper but we’ll see. Ritchie’s analytics were solid. Idk what Heinen’s look like but he produces more actual stats.

We should get 1st OA because we deserve it. Haven't had a 1st OA pick in our history. #2 in 1994 and 2005 (oh that one hurts so bad). I am praying to the hockey goods on a daily basis.

Its the only trade I feel a little bit off about. Heinen is just so vanilla. He may have more points, but he was on a better team.

Heinen's 3 yrs are slightly better, though I haven't looked into it more than that, and according to B's fans his best year was 17-18, and he's been worse ever since, Ritchie's worst year was 17-18 and has been better since

I have no concerns about Ritchie putting it all together in BOS. He's too much of an idiot for that. I just think Heinen is so "meh". Even Milano for Ritchie would have made more sense, giving up Ritchie to take a flyer on a kid whose shown promise but who hasn't put it all together. Heinen doesn't have any stand out skills and really is unlikely to improve at all because he wasn't in need of a change scenery like a Milano. Essentially, all we can expect is a 30-35 pt guy who is solid defensively. Not bad, but just not that exciting is all.
