they'll never have another shot like this to grab a Franchise Goalie they've Never to this date had.

This trade's pretty bad but the possibility of it happening is higher then you'd think .
That 1st pick is to grab the best available D but that 2nd pick they'd be nuts not to get Askarov giving who they got or dont have to replace their 38 year old goalie

Awards are obviously a big part of it otherwise you're just a long term goalie like Anderson or Smith
Franchise means essentially he's your number 1 guy on ice for the next decade .
it usually helps if they're top 10 in the league atleast half that time if not more

Thanks, nice getting input from other fans. For me the value of goalies has never been so volatile because the game has changed so much in the last 20 years. Bad goal tending for sure can sink a team, but when was the last time a Vezina winner won the Cup that year as well, Thomas?

Ottawa's needs are not in goal. Hogberg and Nilsson look great so far with Gus-Dac-Sogaard-Mando down below (not particularly in that order). I think Chicago will go for Askarov... Ottawa needs talent up front (#1 center [Byfield/Lundell/Perfetti] + 1 RW [Raymond/Holtz). The need for D will come in the later rounds. MAYBE Ottawa tries to move up in the draft with NYI's pick and a couple of 2nds for a solid RHD prospect. With JBD and Lassi below as well, Ottawa will be okay... But, even with that, Ottawa is in no rush to make trades likes this. Domi is a prikk to play against, but in no way is he worth a lottery pick.
