Do we have a chance for playoffs Next year

Created by: Kings989

Description
Just a look what the team may look like at start of season! Kings have been great and really look like they’ve got the system down! Didn’t put any thought in the signings just who might make the team. Took waivers into account. They look like a different team then the team that started the season. Hoping it’s progress and not just a lucky hot streak. But they’ve been pretty dominant lately

This team sucks.

Make the top 6 :
Lafreniere-Turcotte-Kupari
Anderson-Dolat- Kopitar - Vilardi

This team needs youngsters and only 1 of them isn't playing on the 4th line

Yeah I’m not including their draft pick or guys like Turcotte etc that might force their way onto the team depending how camp goes. I doubt the kings make any moves other then maybe Carter. And letting Lewis, Hutton and Ryan walk. Think they are content letting the kids play and figuring out who they wanna keep before they start making moves. Eventually they will have to make some trades because they are gonna be overloaded with prospects

I honestly doubt it.

They could certainly make a move up the standings, but this doesn't take into account the fact that other teams in the Pacific are likely to make moves to try to improve as well.

Vegas-Still has a good feeder system, and they're very deep up front. Add another d-man and they become even better.
Oilers-Still relatively young, and have a solid foundation. Should have some room to add some depth if the cap jumps as expected.
Flames-Better than most give them credit for. Losing a couple of d-men in the summer, but have young talent in the minors to fill those holes.
Canucks-Already really good, imagine what they could do if they shed the Loui contract, and use that money to add.
Yotes-Probably poised to drop a bit unless they can keep Hall. Add a 2C in there, and they probably maintain.
Ducks-Lots of young talent developing, very similar to LA. Add a solid top 4 RD and they could be sneaky. Also, John Gibson=GOAT.
Sharks-If they're this bad right now, it's going to be tough for them to get much better. Lots of old guys, but Hertl/Meier will keep them afloat, but there's so much money invested in older guys, plus they have an overpaid starter signed long term that's a sieve.

I could see you jumping up and at least being competitive, but to say that they have a chance for the playoffs is a stretch. Do Walker and Roy regress? At least you have cap space to make an addition or two.

Other then Brown,Kopi, Quick and Doughty the whole team I posted is youngsters. I doubt Kupari makes the team, Turcotte didn’t look great or dominant in college. Lafreniere is a long shot and Anderson-Dolan isn’t a top six. Don’t see how that’s better then the top six we have. Those guys are all coming but they aren’t taking over like that! Believe me I wish they were but they all have work to do.

You are looking at it from too much of an outside view. Kupari is years away from the NHL and if he ever makes it, he will most likely be a bottom 6 player. Anderon-Dolan, if lucky will be at 3C. He'll be our Jaret Stoll with more of a top 6 upside. Top 6 will look closer to this:
Iafallo Kopitar Brown
Carter/Lafreniere(if drafted) Turcotte Vilardi
Kempe Anderson-Dolan Frk
Moore Lizotte Wagner

Bjornfot Doughty
Anderson Roy
MacDermid Walker

Hopefully the Kings can somehow acquire Sergachev with guys like Kupari, Grundstrom, and Durzi. Guys that either won't make the team for a long time or won't fit the system.

I think you underestimate Turcotte a bit, we'll see. Lafreniere isn't really a long shot we are still a lottery projected team. I think JAD will be our next Stoll which I am very excited about.

No I don’t underestimate Turcotte I just don’t think he’s ready. I think he has great upside. But don’t see him jumping right to 2nd line center if he even makes the team. I think you and I agree on Kupari. I hope for Lafreniere, especially being a winger which I think we need badly, a high end winger. Anderson-Dolan absolutely reminds me of Stoll as well. He will be a very useful player. I could see Vilardi making a huge jump next year. He’s clearly not in pro level shape. But considering how long he was off and how he couldn’t even train until last season was well under way. I think if he has a solid summer of training he might look even better. He has amazing moves in close quarters but he looks gassed a lot.

I hope he is ready next year, but he may need another year in the AHL.

I think Arizona, Calgary and San Jose are all on a downward path but that still doesn't get them by Las Vegas, Edmonton and Vancouver. They might be next year's NY Rangers (close to a wild card but a little short). I think whether they get an NHL-ready player in this year's draft will go a long way to determining whether they get near a playoff slot. Giving Anderson, Bjornfot, Walker and Roy another year to develop together and the defense could start to look very strong at the right time. 2021-2022 should be when Turcotte and Kaliyev are ready to make the jump, too.
