Edmonton declines. If Benning and Puljujarvi - your mileage may vary - can be used to obtain picks and prospects instead of a $3.5M rental, Edmonton would be much wiser to do so.

Now if you tossed Tolvanen in, I could be talked into it.

You guys honestly think that he carries that much trade value? I'd toss in a meh level B prospect instead but wow that counter is bad.

Benning - by value of handedness and how consistent he's been - is worth like a B-prospect and a 3rd Rounder. I'm still very adamant about Puljujarvi being worth a prospect and a 2nd Round Pick, His Liiga numbers suggest a quality 3rd line forward in the NHL. How much more growth could there be if a team is willing to play him alongside one of their top-6 centers? The only knock on Puljujarvi at this point is that he's never going back to Edmonton. There's still value there, especially considering that he's not even 22 years old yet. This isn't some 26 year-old burnout we're talking about.

The counter is arguably more sane than the initial deal proposed.

Just don’t see why the Habs would consider doiing this trade. Lehkonen is younger, on a cheap contract under team control for three more season. For the difference of production between this two players this is just not worth a shot. And Lehkonen is very versatile, can play up and down the line up and kill penalty.

Agree with this take, but from Preds perspective, if they take it, I'd make that deal. Granlund is underpaid. He may not get the $5.75M he's currently at, but he won't be as cheap as $4.4M. I'll trade Watson 100 times before I trade Trenin, and I don't understand moving Bonino, then going to get Bozak. You can sign a RD to play 3rd line for cheaper than Benning, and Puljujarvi may not be worth the headache.
