Would rather just trade Johnsson for Sorenson + 3rd + 5th

Unfortunatly not as much as it should be, because he's getting 8M until 40 with a non-increasing cap. He's basically unmouvable unless you absorb a bad contract and even then, I dont think you get A+ or A kind of assets. Same with vlasic, completely different and both can provide good hockey even at their age, the contracts are just too bad.

A medium McDonalds fries, a rusty screw, cheap sunglasses and a moldy boot is the most I'd pay for him as another team.

I'd add Meier to the trade list. With that massive qualifying offer he's gonna receive in a few years, I think moving him now is wise. If they wait too long, they're not gonna get crap for him.

No thanks lol. We will keep our 30 goal 23 year old winger. We also arent moving Couture or Kane

That won't surprise me.

Regardless, I think adding him to a trade would make it massively easier to move certain bad contracts, such as Jones' or Vlasic's.

Without retention, probably a quantity package similar to Ottawa got for Jason Spezza at the time he was older. A top 9 roster player + 2 meh to medium prospects and a 2nd rounder

Im sure it would be, but ask yourself whats the point of trading them? If we are moving our good players to kill salary then we arent getting good returns, meaning the team is just worse with no benefit. If we trade Meier its because we are rebuilding and will find an amazing package for him that helps us rebuild. Im content to keep Vlasic and Jones if we are rebuilding(kind of like Ottawa keeping Bobby Ryan or Nashvillve keeping Turris)

It would be a no brainer if SJ had a deep prospect pool. But it’s tougher cuz they really dont

Well Nashville ain't exactly rebuilding. Also OTT is keeping Ryan due to fit under the cap minimum.

Neither exactly applies to SJ.

It would if we were set on rebuilding. Rebuilding teams dont pay to move guys, they just deal with it and trade players with value

Indeed. Problem with SJ though is that they're technically too good to rebuild effectively, but also they can't exactly strengthen their team due to lack of money because of these terrible contracts.

Wouldn't want to be in Wilson's shoes, that's for sure.

Tough part with moving Burns is his modified NTC is robust. He only has to provide a list of 3 teams he'd accept a trade to and its very easy for him/his agent to provide a list of team that won't trade for him. The good news is his actual money owed isn't terrible after his bonus is paid out this July.

20/21 - $2m (post 7/1 bonus)
21/22 - $7.5m
22/23 - $6.5m
23/24 - $5m
24/25 - $5m

If SJ is willing to eat some cap space then it possible, but again Burns 3 team trade list really limits them. I imagine if things don't get better in SJ in the next few years, Burns maybe more willing to accept a deal for a chance to win a cup. At that point the cap should be significantly higher because of the new TV coming up. Last number I saw was the current deal is for $200 million a season and some thinking a new TV deal could be worth north of $350 million a season. Not entirely sure how much that will increase the cap, but it should give it a nice boost.

All of this is true, but even if he provides a 30 teams list

All of this is true. But even if the list was with 30 team, a trade is very very much unlikely, a rebuilding team wont give you picks if prospects because it would be counter productive and a contender probably wont have the caproom to fit him or wont really need him enough to make the move

Over the last 3 years he's still 2nd in points among NHL d-men, so he's got value. If SJ was willing to eat say $2 million and bring his hit down to $6 million, then he's more manageable for teams. If SJ is willing to take a bad contract back (maybe a shorter term) on top of that then it helps.
