    Leafs turn both down

Malkin is 33 and Barkov has less offensive impact that Matthews and is slightly older

It would take Barkov, Weegar and FLA's 2020 1st to get Matthews IMO

Barkov is not as good as Matthews and Malkin is old. If you don't understand that you are just a troll.

Matthews defensive numbers are extremely good. He just gets a bad rap due to the usual anti leaf bias. If win champsionships with two way centres, then TO is going to win Championships.

He said he needs to improve defensively. And what stats

well, one of them has won championships and one of them has not. That same one has had their team finish higher in the standings every single one of the four years they have been in the league.
if I had to say you won championships with one of those players, it would not be Barkov

So since Matthews was on better junior teams and is on a way better nhl team he’s better.

well not because of it, but yes. He's better. Barkov may be a better defensive player, but he's not as good at matthews at scoring and his defensive game is growing by leaps and bounds. He has become an incredible 2 way player. Barkov is very good, but saying some nonsense like "you win championships with players like Barkov" when he has never won a championship, especially when used to imply that you dont win them with players like matthews is hilarious.

Expected goals percentage, High Danger Chance percentage, possession. Just to name a few. He also was top 3 in turnovers this year.

Barkov is one of the best defensive players and can rack up points. Year after year it’s the teams with really good defensive centres that win.
How come Matthews hasn’t got passed the first round on such a good team?
And before u cry about barkov not winning either, he’s on a much worse team
Maybe Matthews can win the cup, but if I were to chose one to put on my team it’s barkov

How in the world is high danger chances a defensive or individual stat. Possession, how is that individual

It is when you weigh it against other players on your team. Matthews dominates sir, its not deniable. Almost all metrics available show him to be tenacious defensively, and offensively incredible.

Again... I was arguing that it's not worth it. There was someone else on another thread who said that both Barkov and Malkin are better (hint they're a canes fan)

Oh I know, trolls will be trolls. Unfortunately, they are not able to reason or think with logic and can't be counted on for any meaningful discussion.

Malkin is better than Matthews by a far margin IF you do their year to year comparison, but obviously with a 10 year age gap, Matthews is better right now.

Malkin, no thats obvious. You probably take prime Malkin in heartbeat but not 33 yo Malkin.
Barkov is close, hes basically the new generations Bergeron/Kopitar. Matthews is fine defensively but doesnt hold a candle to Barkov. Also Barkov has ridiculous puck control (you have to watch his shootout highlight video if you haven't seen it yet). Barkov also had a 96 point season last year, until Matthews can prove hes a 90+ point player and not just an 80 point player I'm taking Barkov. 2 years of Barkov at 5.9M is way more sexy then 4 years of Matthews at 11.6M too

How many does Matthews have? And don’t say minors because that doesn’t count.
