Ottawa isn’t doing that. Josh Norris is absolutely not going anywhere

I highly doubt we just signed him long-term just to flip him. If you want Allen 2nd-3rd round pick will do

Barrie is UFA and will have offers from 7,5M/year to 9,5M/years elsewhere... if Ottawa wants a offensive Defense to pair with Chabot on the power play for many years, they will have to overpay Barrie, I think

This trade is a disaster for Ottawa. Trying to jumpstart the team into contending by making bad trades and bad signings, it puts the team in a way worse position long term.

Why would Ottawa want Barrie though? For Barrie to be successful, he needs to be the number 1 PP quarterback, and he needs a team that can shelter his usage 5v5. Ottawa gives him neither of those things. Ottawa would be significantly overpaying for Barrie, then not being able to put him in a position to succeed. It's bad for Chabot, it's bad for Barrie, and it's really bad for Ottawa.

I disagree, I think that Chabot and Barrie running the power play for many years will assure Ottawa good offensive from the Ds... Speed, two good offensive passers jumping on the rush will help young Ottawa forwards coming in the next years to put lot of points on the board for the team... I know the defensive side is poor for both of them but Dorion has to sign or draft some defensive defense to complete them... for sur I would like to see a power play lead by Chabot and Barrie!!!

The issue isn't having Barrie on the team, if you think he'd be a good fit then go ahead. You paid this guy $10M when no competitive team can offer him over $6M due to the cap freeze. He's a PP specialist, may as well sign Krug too while you're at it
