Absolutely horrible pick for the Habs without much thinking behind it - where do you think Carey Price is going?

Habs would never pick Askarov. Price and Primeau have us set in the net for at least the next decade and a half. I’d go with Holtz.

Are picks 13-21 supposed to be there? Because otherwise the mock looks pretty decent. But if they are supposed to be there, this mock is not very realistic at all.

If the Devils can land Drysdale and Sanderson that is going to be Keith/Seabrook 2.0

If Devils take Drysdale, they would take Holtz at 10

Interesting top 10. Really doubt that both Ottawa and the 2 Californian teams pass on Drysdale. One of them will grab him for sure. A few players are low imo, such as Villeneuve, Niemela, Neighbours... As for Askarov, it may not be a shared opinion, but I would be more than ok to have him in MTL, if we have to choose between Quinn or Holtz. I'm not a fan of Holtz, but Quinn seems to be on MTL's radar and could be their pick even if they draft as low as 8. Askarov would allow us to have the best goalie prospect in the league, and is the BPA at that rank. He would not jam our AHL goalies, since he would be playing in the KHL. Could even be a great piece in trade in a few years if he has not futur in Montreal.
Finally, mark my word, Sanderson will be gone at 10.

I don’t understand your Askarov comment - if he’s ready in 2 or 3 years for the nhl - where do you think Carey Price is going?

When we will be serious contender, in more than 2 years, Price will be at least 34-35. If he doesn't start winning at that age, he may simply ask for a trade. Also, if he wants to stay, then we can trade Askarov (who's value will be veery high) or Primeau, or both. If he wants to be traded, we must accept his request because of all he did for the organisation.
I think it will take at least 2-3 years for Askarov to be NHL ready.

I really can’t see many teams taking on Prices contract at $10m - that’s massive salary to be retained in 3 years - unfortunately it’s a hangover that will be a tough cure. Even if he asks for a trade. A contract buyout - absolutely no way! Why would you take Askarov and burn 3 years off an entry level and then offer him up for a trade? He could very well be a risk of an RFA offer sheet or sit out and play in the khl if he was to sit behind Price. I believe Askarov is a strategically horrible pick for the Habs and does nothing for us in the moderate or long term

That's when Seattle comes around. He could be the star that they need to start their franchise, like Fleury was for Vegas. I would see them taking him in 2 years, when Askarov will be ready, or we can use Primeau for one year as a starter. I would see Price end his career with Seattle, which is close from Vancouver, which is where he's from.

So Price plays one more year after this for the Habs in 2020-2021and is Left unprotected and then is claimed? Usually at the later stages of a career, players want to win vs going back close to home to just take their pay check. I can’t see the Habs organization treating Carey like that, and I can’t see Carey wanting that. Seattle won’t be close to the immediate contender that Vegas has achieved- the gm’s around the league learned a Vegas lesson and have had a couple of years to prepare to dump underachieving players. I’ll stand by my comment - Askarov does nothing for the Habs over the moderate or long term - there’s better value in other players

I am not saying he's the best option. I'm just saying that it wouldn't be the end of the world if it happened. Also, Price would have to agree to go to Seattle, since he has an NMC, which he has to lift. So Habs can't force him to go to Seattle.

If Lindell falls to Dallas at 22, I’ll streak through my neighborhood. Would be an insane steal at that point in the draft that I just don’t see happening.

Also, Hirvonen in the 4th Round?
