Teams that accept: Calgary, Pittsburgh, SJS, NYR

Teams that reject: Ottawa, Philadelphia, Winnipeg

The worst trade here is the Ottawa trade... Okposo will cost you two 1sts to move. One 1st if you retain half.

I feel like only one first will be necessary because it's probably comparable to the marleau trade

Marleau had 1 year. Okposo has 3 years. If you go by the Marleau rate it's 3 1sts. However I think the Leafs overpaid.

Ottawa doesn't touch Okposo without a 1st plus coming back. No incentive to help the Sabres otherwise.

Can't see ott being interested. They have no need/room for Hutton and RJ isn't enough for Ottawa to consider taking KO's contract.

I don't, lot of heat on Okposo. It's not like he was horrible on NYI but it's a few years later but not that many. He's 32 ok, but that contract only runs til 34.

I think part of the issue with him has simply been bad fit. Maybe on a different team with a different style he fits better.
The buyout cost on that contract is 6 million actual over 6 yearsl. So it's not all that horrible for a low cap team to take a run up on.
Even if they tried 1 year and then said screw it, this isn't working it would only cost 4mil over 4 years to buy him out. So if you are a team with profit, want help getting to the cap floor it might be worth it.

Overpay for Hertl, the 7th OA and a B prospect would be enough for desperate SJS. Georgiev isn't worth 2 2nds, not even sure he's worth 1 2nd

That's not an overpay, sorry. That's an underpay if anything.

To pay anything more than that I would need a point per game player coming back or someone with no injury history and under team control for several years. So maybe Dylan Larkin, Alexander Barkov, Jonathan Huberdeau, etc. Don't get me wrong Hertl is a great player and that is why I would be willing to offer the # 7 pick in an excellent draft and two good prospects, but Hertl is not a franchise player and would not offer up a franchise player type package for him

No I agree. I think that the 7th overall pick in a deep draft class would be good value. I don't love the trade because I think Mittelstadt is very nearly a bust and we need a goalie who can step in right around now. Not that Portillo and Mittelstadt don't hold value, it's just they don't really suit our needs, especially if we get rid of Hertl. We really need a top 6 forward, and Hertl is literally our best center, on a great contract. But I still do think your trade is decent value. From a Sharks perspective it's just not quite there.
