Barrie on a 1 year

Created by: Austin_Cashews
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 16, 2020
Published: Jun. 16, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Could Barrie be a fit for 1 more yr to partner with Reilly combined with ideal coaching style? Maybe he would want one more yr to increase his value for the yr after next, since this last season had a slow start for him ? Also I'm not sure how to get rid of Johnson without taking back salary so this is my attempt :p .... Are these even trades/ do trades ever work

Sens aren't in the market for a 3C, or a middle six LW.

love to destroy the forward depth for no reason other than a lack of creativity to bring back a defender who cant defend while not improving the team in any way

Hmm - could a player for pick trade happen theoretically with a team that may be ?? Or generally do you have to take salary back?? Thanks for info on where sens are at with that smile

Ya too much for not enough eh ? I thought he was positive with Reilly for most of the time but I think you're right, that might cut too much into depth

Engvall does not provide much value on the fourth line IMO. He is a great hard worker and a speedster who can add an element to the third line with talent. Engvall alone does not have much pure talent and that's why I think he is honestly a waste of salary if you put him on the fourth line.

Also, Ottawa right now stockpiled their draft picks for this year and I really don't think they would lose 4 of them on a 3C. Kerfoot is heavily undervalued on this site, but not to this extent. He is not worth 4 rebuilding picks.

Barrie didn’t play good in Toronto, why would you want him back?

Yah I didn't like the trade for him and Barrie, may as well try to make it worthwhile and keep Barrie for another yr and trade Kerf for whatever ?

His stats improved a ton after Babcock was fired if I'm not wrong I'll check that - also playing a lot with an injured Reilly

Also it could keep some stored money to resign a couple key guys coming up for extensions soon , and hopefully in-house d men will be ready by then on cheaper deals .... idk tho I'm prob way off lol

How about just the 6 and 7 lol he could be kept I think but if this was the roster it would only be fair to let him play somewhere that he would get time bc he's not bad

Trying to see if there's a way to keep the expensive core , get a partner for Reilly next yr while sandin develops more and free some space to 're sign Hyman and Reilly

see if another team is interested. Devils are in no position to give up multiple picks for a 4th line forward

These three trades are awful you didn't put much thought into them.

Also, Barrie isn't signing a one year deal.

As far as evengall - what about switching him and spezza throughout the season after Robertson gets some time with the vet and evengall gets some more time at center since his last time was marlies? Plus spezza ain't getting younger so all the more reason to swap lines part way through and have a fresh 3c ??

Haha fair enough, it's moreso that I'm still learning how this works as far as balancing a trade in general but all of this is helping my figure it out- pretty new but love the sport smile
