Let the cost cutting in Buffalo begin

Created by: OldmanWebber
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 18, 2020
Published: Jun. 18, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Now do I think Buffalo would trade Eichel? NO! But if they did, and even more unlikely that they would in Division. Would this be enough?
Domi 2C
KK Future 1C/2C
Olofsson Future 3C
Harris Future top 4LD
Brook Future top 4RD
38 OA and 39 OA pick in a strong draft
2021 1st round unprotected
2022 1st round unprotected
This is a lot to give up for one player and most likely still not enough from Buffalo's perspective and a huge over pay from the Montreal perspective. But to get a true 1C and a super star this is what you would need to give up.

I have Romanov starting the season in Laval to get his feet wet, if he proves ready to move up an in season trade of a LD will need to take place to make space.

the only valuable pieces going buffalos was is Kotkaniemi. They aren't even receiving a top 10 pick this year lol.

yes they are but its still not even worth it for Buff

Devs have 2 top 10s and Buff would still say no

the picks are 2021 and 2022. MTL could very well be a playoff team with Eichal. Those picks would be in the range of 16-24 ish

Eichel isn't getting traded within the division, And that's if he even gets traded at all. And those pieces sure as hell don't get him.

Value is off but not trading within the division Is a flawed thought. If that’s your best offer you take it. The goal is to improve your team.
The trade would be kk, Romanov and 8, but he probably isn’t going anywhere

Not near enough for Anderson. The minimum would be Weal and a 2nd. More isn’t always better.

You are offering less with KK, Romanov and 8 OA then I had in the trade, but yet you say my value is off? I say what I had in the trade was an overpay to be honest.
Eichel is great no question but he isn't God. I would gladly take back the 2 2020 seconds above and insert the 8 OA instead. Anyway I agree that he most likely isn't getting moved which I also stated in the team description.

I didn’t notice the 2022 pick. Two firsts domi, kk, Harris and 39 &40 and brook is a damn good return for Eichel and probably too much

I agree, which I also stated. But to get a true 1C you would have to think about it.

Yes but look at it this way,
Domi was at 72 points last year and we missed by 2 points. U change that to 100 points from Eichel how far do we go. Then you also have a tough time keeping danault Gallagher and Tatar meaning you’ll never be a force. The best thing for the Habs is to blow it up after next year. Yes price and Weber are aging but your too far from being a force to continue with danault Gallagher and Tatar

Not sure about that, no you would not be able to sign all your UFA's but you probably don't want too.

If u lose the four big guys your offence won’t be good enough. You’ll be in the same spot as you are now

This isn't insulting but it doesn't get it done. The issue is with the value of the individual pieces. Not one A+ piece so easy to beat for at least 20 other teams. 2020 1st has to be in the deal. No question. Kotkaniemi and Domi are nice pieces but nothing that moves the needle. Keep both, add Suzuki. Add two A+ prospects in place of the pieces (Poehling & Caufield). Otherwise Buffalo just gets the consolation prize: keeping Eichel. Easy choice.

but their D is still bad even if Romanov reachs his potential (i.e. Dmitry Orlov 2.0 and it's not ideal to throw Romanov on the top 4 pairing right away just like they did with Mete) and Weber is healthy. So theres a chance those picks are in the lottery
