I want to say no from avs side however Jonny is a fantastic player and adding him to avs line up for two years could be worth paying a very significant price for.

Colorado would be better served long-term by keeping those futures rather than going all-in on a player that has a poor track-record in the playoffs.

I hate this comment, ‘’ they are better served long-term ... ‘’ Gaudreau makes them better right away, and big time. The question is : does he fits ? They didn’t trade all their prospect, they lose 2 excellent ones, but they get a top LW in the league

So easy no for Avs. The only way the Avs would even consider adding that playoff choke monster is if he were free.

Gaudreau is an awful fit. He needs the puck to be successful, he is small and not physical, and he isn’t clutch. On top of that at 6.75 he needs a new deal in 2 years and there is a very good chance that the end of that contract will be very painful to the team paying it. I’ll keep guys that are good and cheap thanks all the same.

Trading for Gaudreau basically makes Colorado's window a 2 year window, as after that they would lose 2/3 of their 2nd line (Gaudreau and Kadri) to UFA, with no replacement. They'd also have no one to replace Johnson as the 2nd pair RHD either. But by keeping Newhook and Timmins they have a perfect succession plan at every position that can allow the team to be a contender for 5+ years instead of just 2. There should also be better ways of acquiring a top 6 forward this offseason due to the flat cap than to trade three grade A assets.

As for Gaudreau, Avs got to see first-hand how easy it is to design a gameplan around stopping Gaudreau in the playoffs. Pass.

thats a big fat No.

Gaudreau is the last guy the Avs would want to add...soft easy to play against guy who doesnt back check or play Defence and is being dragged by his local fan base for his lack of effort issues.

A 1 dimensional offensive winger doesnt do a thing to one of the top offences in the league, they are already set there.

Hes not the winger for the Avs....they destroyed him last year in the playoffs, he pouted and didnt fight for his ice once all series long. Thats why the fan base is fed up with him, his lack of effort and complete level. Its easy when you re racking up the points in the regular season against the weakest division in hockey with shooting a career high with a high PDO. When push comes to shove he disappears..

Its an easy pass

This is slightly less than what Arizona payed for 3 months of Hall. Gaudreau for 2 years definitely has more value

How tf did you get that logic? He projects as a 2nd line winger and did quite well in his short NHL debut this year in Jersey

Bruh, saying Newhook + Timmins + 1st is worse then Merkley + Bahl + Schnarr + 1st + conditionnal 3rd pick is ridiculous

Did I say worse? I said slightly less. Factoring in the 10tg oa pick in 2020 swinga it drastically.

I'm aware of where they were. If they stayed 1st in the division, this deal fair if Gaudreau was a rental. However he is not, he is a player with 100 point potential in the middle of his prime with 2 full seasons left

If Gaudreau was good in the playoffs, maybe more. Since he disappeared, that’s more than fair for 2 years of Gaudreau
