Senators wouldn't do this, they already have a veteran presence on D in Hainsey, and they are trying to rebuild so they won't want to take Russell. Jets also don't do this because Benning is not worth that and the Jets won't want him.

I did not make this lmao.
And yeah, Hainsey probably will resign. He seems to like Ottawa from what I've heard, and even if they don't they also have Borweicki or however you spell it, he is also a veteran presence. 1 of the 2 or possibly both are likely to re sign.

I want jost but idk at that cost to be honest. After discussions recently about him with avs fans he seems what I want in bottom six but 3C might not be such a good fit

Definitely wouldn’t add to it for jost at the end of the day we have archy,jj, can resign sheahan not saying better than jost just have several defensive forwards already in bottom six he would be a nice add if it was cheaper. I wouldn’t call that offer peanuts that’s a good prospect. I just don’t see jost filling the need as a 3c

I'm the guilty party lol awesome face

I made that suggestion to explore Edmonton's prospect pool and see what Oilers fans would feel about trading one of their decent prospects for Jost. Samorukov is the prospet that made the most sense, given Edmonton's glut of LHD's (ie. Klefbom/Nurse/Broberg/Jones/etc).

Note that trading Jost for futures would only be done after exhausting options involving packaging him to get a top 6 forward (eg. Jost + 2nd for Josh Anderson). If we go the prospect + pick route I think we'd also be more inclined to aim for a prospect + 2nd, rather than prospect + 3rd, unless the prospect is very good.

As a reference point, Winnipeg fans on here liked the idea of Jost for Chisholm + 3rd. Chisholm is the 3rd highest Dman scorer in the OHL this season.

From what I've seen and read about Samorukov he seems like he could be a solid LHD on our 3rd pairing eventually, and replace some of the physicality we'll lose when Zadorov moves on.

Edmonton is loaded with defense prospects and already have a pretty decent defense core as it is so Samorukov is in tough to ever break through with the Oilers and a 3rd round pick in 2021 won't be a contributing NHL player for at least three years but odds are it'll be more like 4 or 5 if it even amounts to anything so yeah in the grand scheme of where Edmonton is at and what their needs are and Jost' potential this is peanuts, the Oilers would be crazy to not make this trade if this is all it takes to acquire Jost.

Why spend those assets with Mcloed not far away. He nearly made the team this year.

Get the sure thing, assets are useless if you don't turn them into anything. You've got big expectations for a guy who hasn't played a regular season game yet and the Oilers have turned the corner, it's time to compete not wait around for prospects.

What does jost improve on this roster? Unlikely to be the spark for any offence in bottom six. Won’t see a second on pp. pk he might get some time but already having a top pk doesn’t seem like a need worth spending assets on. Is he atleast good at faceoffs? Not that I put a ton of stock into that it’s just another reason why I’d rather look elsewhere for a 3c. I’d love jost just don’t see being a worth while fit.

Hey, chevy rarely makes bad moves so lets just cut him some slack 😂.

His bad moves: trading up to draft Stanley (or drafting him at all, though he was bound to go in the first round), trading for kislevich last year (he must have know Maurice wouldn’t play him) though that was minor.

Some may say the armia trade but if u consider what the move was for it’s not so bad. Then move was made to make cap space to sign stastny. If we were to sign stastny we wouldn’t have space for mason for sure but not armia either. His next deal would cost money and the jets had roslovic waiting in the wings so armia became expendable

I really wish they would've played Kislevich, watched some Florida games last season and he looked decent.

Can you believe they could of drafted Hart, Girard or Hronek just to name a few instead of Stanley? Best player available my ass!

Still hate the Armia trade to this day, trading away the best 3rd line winger in the game for nothing was a terrible move.

The Hayes trade was a bad move, that team was clearly a train wreck and not worth investing in whatsoever.

Holding onto Trouba for WAY too long was also a bad move/mistake.

No, Jost is terrible at faceoffs.
