Before anyone comments on Domi not being worth 8th OVA. Consider this will the 8th pick likely Lundell be able to help the team next year or the year after to the same degree as Domi? Probably not! Then there is the following data to also consider.

These are all the players from the 2013-2015 draft (23-25yrs old) that I believe are worth the 8th overall pick and are not considered "superstars", but elite. I have their ppg over the past 2 seasons and average GAR%/xGAR% percentile among forwards over the past two seasons. As a Sabres fan, I think Reinhart is a good reference point. From this list, the only ones that may be available are Domi, Ehlers, Cirelli. This list in my opinion proves that Domi belongs in this elite group of top 6 forwards and is worth 8th overall.

Monahan .88 2013 79.3%
Lindholm .87 2013 89.7%
Larkin .86 2014 89.3%
Boeser .80 2015 84.4%
Meier .78 2015 89.2%
Mantha .78 2013 85.8%
Reinhart .76 2014 87.9%
Domi .76 2013 88.5%
Horvat .75 2013 75%
Konecny .74 2015 89.1%
Ehlers .71 2014 90.1%

What’s the hype with Domi. He had 44 points after one breakout year. Not worth 8th overall.

I would trade a 2021 first for Domi + mete, but this draft is stacked.

Hawks probably arent contending next year so they would just wait and sign Petry anyway, but we probably wanna wait and see what we have in Mitchell and Boqvist first, dont need another RD right now

Did you even read the data or is it too hard for you to understand? Domi's 44 points this season came while playing 3rd line C with Lehkonen (3rd line defensive specialist) and Weal (13th forward) while playing 2C last season withskilled wingers he put up 72 points. Can you figure out why there was a drop in production this year or should I spell it out for you? Skilled wingers vs non-skilled wingers.

I figured the Hawks would be contenders next year and Petry would help solidify the RHD plus you offload Shaw as well. Plus the Habs would probably extend Petry before losing him for nothing

Domi and Mete are not being traded for lottery protected picks! You think the Owner and GM of Buffalo will be able to keep Eichel in town if they don't use the 8th OVA pick to improve the team NOW! 8th is likely to be Lundell who may be better than Domi in 2 or 3 years but will Eichel wait that long? Probably not, also there is the chance that Lundell never hits Domi's level so the choice here is Domi (a proven top 6 forward in the NHL who plays Center very well) or Lundell (a B+ Prospect who may be ready in 2 or 3 years or maybe not at all) who do you think will help speed up the retool and keep Eichel from requesting a trade cause the Sabres miss the playoffs for 10 straight years?

They won’t be good with Domi anyway lmao. The owners of the Sabres have no money, they need cheap contracts. Lundell is an NHL ready prospect too.

If Domi was so good they’d actually play him top line then. Not like habs have very good centres to begin with lol. Maybe he plays 3rd line because except for last season... he plays like a 3rd liner??? Is that such a hard concept for you to grasp?

Exactly. I think a 2021 top 10 protected first for Domi is fair. He’s a fine complementary player but he’s not fetching you 7OA in a stacked draft. He’s a 2C. Or top 6 winger. I stopped reading that description when he said Domi was elite lmfao. Domi and Strome are probably the weakest players on that list tbh

So was Poehling last year and Kotkaniemi and a whole boat load of other players that never make the NHL. Prospects are just that prospects, lottery tickets, hopes of the future! Lundell may appear to be NHL ready but what happens if he isn't? What happens if Eichel sees that the owners are not capable of spending the assets necessary to improve the club? What happens if the Sabres miss the playoffs next year and Eichel requests a trade then where will the team be? Probably moving to another market without the best player to ever wear a Sabres uniform!

Your right our Center depth is young and inexperienced! Even then the Danault line was the best at 5 on 5 in the league so Danault-Tatar-Gallagher are not being broken up! Domi was on a line centered by Suzuki with Drouin on the other wing at the beginning of the year but then Kotkaniemi was injured and we needed a 3rd line winger so Domi was moved to play center! If your going to comment on his lack of skill at least get your facts straight so you don't make yourself look like an IDIOT!

That took a lot of turns all I’m saying is The chances of Domi getting traded for 8th Overall is very slim. Jt Miller who is better than Domi was traded for a top 10 protected pick, For the following year.

every single knowledgable sabres fan ive interacted with on this site has been completely against Domi for 8th overall. Domi for a 2021 Top 10 protected Pick is a fair trade.

Can you please show me where I SAID Domi was elite? Like I said earlier the trade proposal and description came from another thread created by SABERTOOTH12! I could have edited it to pretend it was my own bit I am not that type of person, I have more integrity than that.

BTW what did Vancouver give up in the JT Miller trade? Oh right a 1st! How about Ottawa what did they get for Pageau who has about the same skill set and value as Domi? Right a 1st 2020 (strong draft not lottery protected) + 2nd + 3rd! The value is spot on for Domi just haters like to hate!
