Figured the Lightening would rather get the picks and a good prospect than just losing Sergachev to an OS that they cannot match.

Sergachev isn't signing an offer sheet from Montreal, He left Montreal with bad blood there's no way after the trading incident he winds up with Montreal. Most of our Tampa beat writers have already said that neither Cirelii or Sergachev will sign offer sheets. That's why i find these offer sheets on them kind of amusing. Because they just aren't happening.

I didn't mean from Montreal I just meant in general. Anyone will sign an OS IF 1. They feel like they are not being fairly compensated. 2. Even if it is just a bargaining chip like so many think the Aho situation was last year

Tampa need a cheap players they can plug in so trading serg is a possibility but they need replacements who can play now and keep them rolling. They'd want caufield or Suzuki amd maybe mete they can plug in.

Mete would be considered but probably not Suzuki or Caufield but I see what your saying.

@Campabee: I agree that they could. While some other people on this site think they are experts, the vast majority of pundits feel that there are NHL teams that really are going to struggle to sign players. I've always been in the corner of thinking that players, during this period, without a rise in the cap (for several seasons) and the uncertainty of COVID, will be more tempted to sign offer sheets. Whether it happens or not is beyond me, but to say that someone would not sign one - regardless of who is making the offer - is rather shortsighted and emotional. If I were Tampa Bay, I would consider a trade to a team if they cannot get a deal done. MANY people here are thinking this is not going to be difficult for Tampa. But the reasons that their RFAs want to stay are the exact same reasons that Tampa's other players who have already earned NTC/NMC's would be unwilling to waive them. Teams cannot have it both ways. If I am a player on that team, and I want long-term certainty, I highly consider a reasonable offer-sheet with term. I am not saying that I know everything, and I will never say that. It is just my opinion. smile As always, none of us are experts and none of us are paid to be. smile

I think the Lightning are going to try and bridge Sergachev with a 3 year 4.5 - 5.0 million dollar offer which is very similar to McAvoy and Wierenski deals signed last year since the flat cap. If he wants more money then he won't be with the Lightning and a trade or offer sheet will have to happen.

But he has said in our local market thaat he wants to stay and is open to all kinds of deals. He is also really close to Kucherov and Vasilevskiy who also took bridge deals from the Lightning so to me I think he will follow their lead.

Brayden Point last year refused to even look at Montreal's offer sheet which is why they went after Aho. Something about the Lightning (probably locker room, lifestyle and winning culture) gets these RFAs to sign fair bridge deals.

Montreal isn’t interested in Sergachev. While the value is good (for the habs) I wouldn’t do it, since we don’t need LHD.

It will have to be a bridge deal or he won't be with the Lightning I think that is certain. All players are different but precedent has been set in Tampa for RFAs taking bridge deals. There is a video of him I think on the Lightning website and he clearly says he wants to stay in Tampa and is open to any kind of deal to make that happen.

Yeah that isn't happening we have too many holes to fill to give up top picks for just Sergachev!

Absolutely, I was not saying he wasn't just we need forward help more than Sergachev. More specifically we need a top line elite goal scorer like Lafreniere, Holtz, Petfetti or Raymond
