agree. he is like a 3rd pair D at best, and the Leafs are not short of them

Domi is not remotely as good as Monahan and the difference is definitely not Johansson

I don't think that the Leafs need any more bottom pairing defensmen TBH. Regardless of their handedness.

This Leaf fan says no for that reason.

Miller was a top 4 Dman on a Stanley cup contender, then Buffalo traded for him and stuck him on the 3rd pair or press box.

Makes no sense, but there it is.

I don't remember that at all.

He played 19-20 minutes per game for them for two seasons, including the playoffs and their run to the finals.

Why would Buffalo trade the 8th overall pick for Domi??? If they were inclined to deal that pick itd be to package it to either move up a few slots or a package to bring in an elite winger for Eichel...

Miller was a healthy scratch for almost 20 games, and played 17 minute a night on average. You seriously going to say he was top pairing? Just because he played with Dahlin sometimes doesn't make him top pair.

The Sabres dont need elite wingers they need a 2C. The last ting th sabres need is an elite winger. Oloffson was on pace for 30+goals 70+pts and Reinhart was on pace for similar numbers.

point being they can get a lot better than Domi in a package including that 8th overall pick. I know Adams is new but isnt that dim that hed consider Domi for that pick... in this deep draft the Sabres would at least get an NHL ready winger on an ELC instead of paying a 2nd/ 3rd liner 6 bills

He played 1 82 game season. His second highest was 65 games. Other than in Vegas, he played 15 minutes per game in Boston and 17 in Buffalo. In Vegas he had around 19 minutes (which is more like 2nd pair minutes) But the 15-17 minute range suggest more of a 3rd pairing role than 2nd.

You completely take it out of context to spin it into your narrative. He was getting sat for Bogosian. Not a single person thinks Bogosian is a better player. They were trying to dump Bogosian. Hes not a 7th dman an especially not on Toronto. Not only that Ruotsalainen puts the value over the top.

Domi isnt that bad and I would take him over Holtz anyway. Having a good winger isnt going to matter if you dont have a center as Buffalo found out with Skinner this year

Kapanen is also a 3rd liner who saw his ice time drop from 17+ to 15+ minutes this year. They were playing Kerfoot in the top 6 over him. This deal is fair

Ok so who plays with Gaudreau then if Domi plays with Tkachuk? I am all for Calgary acquiriing Domi but not at the cost of moving their 1C. Domi is a 2C by all metrics, Monahan may not be an elite 1C but he's serviceable.

That post is pretty lopsided, it is well known that this is a career worst year for Monahan and Domi is having another average to good season, so at the least it should take the last 3 years into account. here is the 2 players GAR and WAR comparisons over the last 3 seasons
https://imgur.com/a/KQ2k9Ph
As you can see Monahan was the better player in terms of game impact in both the 17/18 and 18/19 seasons, yet had a career worst year this in 19/20 as stated above and obviously was barely a positive impact player

Why would you take Holt over Lundell if you value that center role so much? Both have similar ceilings and Lundell in NHL ready now with a great 2-way game
