No Buyout or Trade Clauses Waived

Created by: ek_65
Team: 2020-21 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 9, 2020
Published: Jul. 10, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Don't see how/why any of Johnson, Palat, Gourde, McDonagh. Coburn, etc. waive their trade clause to leave a contender and great place to play. Killorn unfortunately has to be moved. See room for Cirelli and Cernak to stay, but think Sergachev is the odd guy out. Moved to LA for a cheap NHL top 4 D in Roy, future top 6 scorer in Vilardi who's finally healthy and on an ELC and two 2nd rounders. In addition, I swapped Petersen for McElhinney. I see how LA makes this deal with the 2nd OA coming their way, but wonder how Tampa feels. They are getting 3 full younger guys with great upside and making under $1M , which is exactly what they need but value is a little off.

That LA trade is quite possibly the worst trade I've seen in the history of this website.

Bad? Yes, worst? Doubtful, Just a couple posts ago I saw Marner + Liljegreen + a 1st for Pesce. I'm a big Pesce fan but that is not close at all

Vilardi and the VAN 2nd could pass as "fair value" for Sergachev. I still wouldn't do that trade if I were LA, but that would be a reasonable trade proposal.

So after that, you decide to throw in the Kings best defenseman from last year, their goaltender of the future, and an extra 2nd? But hey, you're sending back a 37-year old career backup goaltender, so it must be fair.

Possible hyperbole, but I stick with my original assessment.

C'mon. With hindsight, don't the first two trades (you can see how long I've been collecting these) achieve true greatness?

Link to the first one is broken. I'll admit they're pretty bad. I'll claim recency bias.
