"Big" prospects like this rarely get moved...but even so this is interesting to address needs. Montreal gets a promising RHD and Edmonton gets a 3C with significant upside. Perhaps this might be a good fit to help Jesse P resign and flank a fellow Finn.

So, I understand the idea but EDM has been dealing with a problem for the last 15 years called "why can't our defensemen play hockey?" and I think Bouchard is too much of a slam dunk for them to move.
When EDM makes a big move next, it'll involve RNH and it'll get back a young winger and an established defensemen better than Adam Larsson. After that they will try to fill out their depth forwards cheaply and be a top 6 + top 4 D good team looking for solid netminding. This deal would set that plan back and I don't think they have a plan B they are interested in.

terrible deal for oilers. They give up a possible number 1 and a potential top 6 player for a player who people think at best is gonna be a 3c

We have Romanov, we don’t need Bouchard(even if the hands are messed up. idc.) Bergevin is stuck with KK now. It looks bad when you trade a guy you really frickin REACHED for at the draft. I think neither team accepts

GTFO. He’s a 3C right now. Who are these people that say that he won’t improve at all? Because they’re idiots.

maybe bust? kotkaniemi has way too much hockey iq at his age to completely bust. at worse he’s a 2C. heck, i can see bouchard or broberg busting before i can see kotkaniemi busting. sure he didn’t have the best season and he isn’t the best skater, but the guy just turned 20 and just had a soft more slump. last year he was producing as a 3C as the youngest player in the league. he will be fine. not every player scores 70 points in their rookie season ffs.

Sure. You are very possibly right. But there's two things. One, you're a habs fan, your gonna be biased towards him and you see him more than other teams do. Two, his stock is obviously very low right now. So either you keep him and turn him into this guy that you think he is, or you move him at his lowest value. You can't trade a guy while he's struggling and say he will not be a bust and get his value back up. Other teams don't have to have your enthusiasm.

I wouldn’t trade him at his lowest value either it wouldn’t be smart at all anyway. He’s not getting dealt anyway and I don’t think Edmonton wands to deal Bouchard either.

I am just going to add to this that Montreal does not need a top pairing RHD we need a top pairing LHD
