What is the price of the first overall pick

Description
The scenario is the Jackets win the lottery (lol right as we know the Jackets lottery history). What would be the best offer? I am looking for constructive comments. Make an offer but support that offer with reason. Thanks cap friendly mates.

Note Anderson is not going to be signed for that low of a contract just put it that way to show he is available as well.

I think you could hold Montreal up pretty good. Their first, of course, and probably Domi, or maybe Suzuki, plus their two good seconds and their 2021 second, plus an A prospect of some sort. That might be enough for a franchise player, might not.

Or Ottawa could start with the third and fifth overall, a 2020 second and 2021 second, and a couple of prospects. What fun!

Both these are probably pretty close but I just don't see either Ottawa or Montreal giving up that much for 1 player even if he is that good. I mean MB has always said he will not mortgage the future to win now and he will not move our top veterans for futures so he clearly has no plan! All that being said I am sure any other Montreal GM would consider trading

Take the pick Columbus, you need your superstar. And the french connection between Lafreniere and Dubois would make for a great story.

It is just an exercise. Jackets would most definitely keep the pick. But it is fun to see the offers.

I don’t know if I like that deal much. The 1OA pick is huge but adding in Dubois severely slants this trade towards Edmonton. Yamamoto does really move the needle enough back.

It is a good offer but not sure that would be a deal Columbus would take. Too many futures. The Jackets would be looking for more immediate help

So your thinking Suzuki, Caufield, 2020 1st, two 2020 2nds, and a 2021 2nd?

My offer has more immediate help than yours does lol. I had Poehling and Domi both either NHL or NHL ready players you have Suzuki and Caufield and while Suzuki is an NHL player Caufield is at least another year away maybe 2

To me if this were a thing, Ottawa would be the most intriguing. I could see the 3OA and 5OA but I would assume Ottawa would want to keep the 5OA so I could see a package of 3OA, NYI 1st, Chris Tierney, Logan Brown, 2020 2nd from Columbus, and two 2nds in 2021 one being the Ottawa pick.

I don’t disagree. Yours does have more immediate help but it lacks the value. Maybe I should have stated it differently but if the Jackets did want more immediate help the Montreal trade would have to include Tatar probably minus Poehling. The 2022 1st is too far out. The Jackets would likely push for Kotkanemi(sorry butchered the spelling) to be a part of the deal. I would assume they would also want Caufield but maybe they throw Anderson into the trade to help balance it.

Poehling is likely to be the next Danault they play a similar game but Poehling also has a size advantage on Danault. I disagree that the value isn't there. If Tatar was going to be part of the deal and what I gather you ask right now is

Domi + Tatar + Kotkaniemi (your spelling wasn't far off just missed the first i) + 2020 1st + Caufield for 2020 1st OVA and Anderson your going to be extremely disappointed! That would be like the Habs asking for PLD + 9th OVA + Atkinson + Anderson + Foudy.

I know your going to say that the Columbus package is higher value but I am talking in terms of importance to the teams and their futures.

PLD = Kotkaniemi
Tatar = Atkinson
Domi = Anderson
Caufield = Foudy

Let me reiterate this comparison of players is not value based.
