Didn't Tony D hold out to the hurricanes that he would only play for the blue shirts? Would be ironic if they shipped him out

No, Adam Fox did, who came from Calgary to Carolina ironically enough!

Cirelli is the prototypical 2-way 2C that the Rangers need.
...but you slot him in on the 3rd line.

Sure, why would Tampa move their young 2C for a late 1st and a C level prospect?

Why would Calgary trade a top 20 pick for guy thats going to demand a huge raise when there are similar players on the FA market for free.

Because they are cap strapped and need to pay there young defenseman at risk offersheets, and they are dealing from a postion of strength at C with Stamkos and Point...

First off, with how Calgary is playing, can't see their pick being in the top 20 (I personally think they'll make it to the WCF). And second, who is available on the UFA market? Barrie? Unless they think they can get Pietrangelo all the options at RHD are significantly less productive, older, and will cost UFA money (ADA should cost something like 4/5x5.25)

Where the lines are redundant. The caliber of forwards the Rangers have in their top 9, those lines should be getting similar ice time. Plus Cirelli between Gauthier/Kravy and Laffy will mitigate any defensive issues they have as young, inexperienced players...

Why exactly? Do you envision Strome will be getting more. Can't see it. I could see hoping to get more for ADA but it seems like Calgary fans think this is too steep already...

Cirelli I think gets close to the $6M AAV range and that warrants a 1+ a 3 if it is an offer sheet I believe. Trading away a 1+ a 4 + a C prospect should be similar value to a 1+3 no?

Offersheets are not something to ever worry about. Cirelli will be the last player moved of the 3 RFA's especially for a crappy return.

Calgary has to make the WCF for their pick to not be top 20. They may beat Dallas but they still have to go win the semifinals after that. Barrie, Gus, Piet, and Vatanen are all solid RD for a PP1 role. Not really sure what you mean by "UFA money" ADA will cost at least 5.5M to resign, probably 6M.

I suppose. I personally can't see him getting that with his offensive production. It isn't exactly barn burning. I'd rather overpay a little with assets to trade for him then overpay with cap space to offersheet him. It really doesn't do Tampa anything different because they are essentially getting the same return...

Can't agree with that. Tampa will absolutely get offersheeted unless they clear significant cap (which will be very difficult considering the candidates for that's NMC/NTC clauses). To expect teams to not take advantage either through trades or offersheets is a bit naive. I personally think Cernak and Sergachev are far more important to TBL's long term success with Stammer and Point there for the long haul...

What I'm trying to say is DeAngelo is better then Barrie, Gustaffson and debatebly Vatanen. He is also significantly younger, he is entering his prime. He will also most likely be arounfd the same amount financially. So why pay the same price in cap for a less productive, older player? The player drafted at that first round pick in that range will likely not have an impact on the team for 2-3 years at best if at all. They have pieces like Pelltier, Dube, Valimaki, Kylington and Zavgordony. There prospect pool will survive without it.

lol Strome put up a 70 point pace. Regardless of who you're on a line with, yeah you get a lot for that. More than what's here.
Deangelo was a top 10 Dman in the league this year. Literally. Take what you think would be appropriate compensation for Roman Josi. Anything less than that is an underpay.

Trust the numbers and you're rarely wrong.

Isn’t he there 3C for now? Obviously a little different playoff wise with stammer out. 53 pt pace for a 3C is pretty good. Put him on line 2 with Panarin and am fairly certain he would put up more points than Strome.

True but teams are not trading for Strome w/ Panarin. They/re trading for the player Ryan Strome has been his entire career a middle 6, playmaking C. That is fair value...

This I can understand more. However, the key point is "this year." We have all seen flash and in the pan one year wonders in the league (see above). Teams will not pay a premium elite d-man price in a trade for ADA unless he shows he can play that way consistently. And I'm happy to keep him (for now) if we can find him the minutes

At first glance yes but I think Stammer played a lot of LW this year, slotting Point and Cirelli up...

Players will receive offer sheets sure but that's up to the player if they would rather sign with an inferior team for a very slight increase in pay. Last year Tampa was "screwed" too and got away with a 1st for Miller. Thinking they can't move contracts is also naive. If you want Cirelli offer Chytil and Lundkvist at the least.

You seem confused here, Barrie + #19 >>>>> DeAngelo. 3 of those prospects listed are on the Flames starting roster next year 3 of them are LW's and 2 are LD. Flames really need a good center prospect and/or a good RD prospect.

Hah! Chytil and Ludnkvist for Cirelli in your dreams! But at any rate I hope it works out for you. If I was Cirelli I'd rather play with Panarin then Alex Killorn but that's me...

Isn't Pelltier a C?
