Big changes-how good is this team

Created by: ecupirate07
Team: 2020-21 Carolina Hurricanes
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 5, 2020
Published: Aug. 14, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Palmieri comes with a 5 x 6.5 million extension.
Expansion draft is tough but this team is great.
Ultimate goal would be to find a taker for Gardiner. If we could find a deal around Gardiner and McGinn for Miller, would they do it? If not, find any taker would be great. Keep TVR as the 6th defender or find another RHD.

Everyone probably says no but, if Toronto fans can dream about Pesce with 3000 lineups a day so can I.

That Winnipeg trade... OOF. Hamilton could return Laine and Connor straight up. Nino you can get a good pick for. This is a major step backwards.

      Laine and Connor. No way.

What do you define as a good pick? If you are talking 4th rounder as good, then maybe.

Im pretty Bullish on what Cotton will bring next year. Probably being too optimistic there. Dougie provides another element but the ability to add Ehlers on a long and sweet deal is very tempting. Also, the savings in cap long term to get a top 10 goalie add another element to the team.

Bean is not going to step in and be Dougie but he will add offense to the back end.

It isnt perfect but the defense is still strong (stronger if Gardiner can be moved) and we added two top 6 forwards to really add the depth with lack against Boston right now.

Hamilton is the best defender in the world right now. EASILY Connor and Laine for Dougie (provided he comes with an extension).

I was thinking a 3rd and 5th, still has 60 point upside and still has one of the best defensive games in hockey.

In the world, nah. Top 7-10 sure. Hedman and a couple of others are ahead of him. Jones from Columbus probably sneaks in there too. I dont see teams giving up a 3rd for Nino in flat cap times. We might be able to squeeze Florida for a 3rd if they werent gunning for cutting salary next season. The pick or prospect that goes with Ehlers wasnt intended to be a throw away. I was looking at it as, what would be offered and where do the Jets value Hamilton.

Hamilton is as good offensively but better defensively than:
      Josi
      Carlson
      Karlsson
      Burns
      Rielly
      OEL
He's as good defensively, but better offensively than:
      Parayko
      Pietrangelo
      Hedman

Who's better? Hamilton is in a different class right now. He's far and away the most dominant and best defender in the world. This is not enough for him. Ehlers is a hell of a player, but he's not enough even with a 1st or someone like Hienola for Dougie Hamilton

Not really, Staal's fine. He's less overpaid than someone like Marner is.

Why do you believe that? We have 3 years left. Would it be nice if he was paid around 4 million? sure. But 6 isnt going to kill us. We have Necas on 2 more years of ELC, Suzuki for 3 more years, probably 4 because it will slide one more year. Rees, Bokk, Keane, our 13th OA pick, Murray, et al will be on the roster over the next 3 years to keep the costs down. Unless any of the players outside of Necas just produce well more than intended and require a huge extension, I dont see anywhere over the next 3 years that it hurts us or prevents us from doing what we need.

It would depend on how much Hamilton's extension is. Likely he would be too expensive for the Jets to consider

I think Dougie is in the top 5, and the stats and analytics back that up. I would still put Josi and Hedman ahead of him for sure. Then he is in the mix with Pietrangelo and Carlson to round out the top 5.

Josi is not a defenceman. He's a forward on the blueline. His defensive numbers are horrific.
Carlson is reknowned for his defensive errors. That's a joke

      Pietrangelo isn't as good offensively.

Hedman is the only one who you can make a case for, and it's still not close. Hamilton is easily the best defender in hockey

What's a fun name have to do with my opinions? Of which I have never stated that Subban is the best player.

Call me a hypocrite without ever actually interacting with me on this site and now throw yourself out there against me when I ridicule a guy who is literally wide spread agreed upon by the regulars of this site as a biased fan.

I'd suggest you know what you're talking about before you try to call someone out

Ehy so you can cherry pick stats that favor your arguement? It's the same as you arguing that Aho is better then Eichle or that Slavin is better then everyone other then Hamilton apparently who you now say is the best.

Your opinions are a joke on here because you have severally showed your bias towards Carolina being the end all be all of forwards and defenceman and even praise your goalie tandem as the best in the league.

You're the most bias person on this site, just wear that crown with dignity

Nope, I can use all stats to back it up. Give me a name, and I'll prove you wrong. Until you give me a name, I cannot prove you wrong!

I’m not to be sure to be honest, but I wouldn’t be suprised if we had to give you our #10 pick this year or our best prospect in Heinola at least
