To quote Melnyk, " the idea of trading our 3rd and 5th for the No. 1 overall pick is nonsensical." That's about as black and white as they could possibly make things. The Sens will do the very obviously smart thing and stay put.

We have 3 holes in our lineup right now. 1C, 1RW and 1RD. If we fill 2 of those with the top 2 picks, we’d have 1 where either some prospect can surprise or next years 1st or the isles pick/2nd rounders fill it

Only trade that's even close I can see would be moving Chabot and Tkachuk for some young guys and the first. And that's still not sensible.

I'd prefer if 99% of the #1 trade hypotheticals went away, but I'm glad both fanbases can agree we don't want this and want people to stop bringing it up.

Ik. That's why I said it's insensible but that's the only "fair trade"
But honestly this trading the first is so stupid. Pretty much as bad as trading Eichel.

I love the current players. Tkachuk is a beast and I can see him being a monster in the playoffs.
