you're gonna be stuck with him imo. Unless TOR has a terrible first half and trades all expiring assets.

I wouldn’t say stuck, he’s a great goalie. Just need a destination and a return to do an agm.

This post was really good timing for me. Just messing around on AGM and was wondering about a destination for Fred.

Me too, San Jose could use a goalie, but their cap situation may be difficult. Possibly minny or Calgary as well.

Yeah, those were targets that crossed my mind as well. Another one I was wondering about was maybe the Caps. A rental option might make sense for them if they don't feel comfortable giving Samsonov too big a load. That way they don't commit long term money to somebody. Idk, maybe a 2nd + 3rd with a performance based condition on the 2nd to potentially become a 1st? Didn't check out their cap situation yet, so they may be unable to do that, but it was just an idea.

I could see CHI as a destination if the Leafs retain 1-2 million. He is a proven starting goalie and at that price he’s be worth 2 2nd rounders at least. Can’t see a first being offered though.

The return is not important, moving his cap hit is. Don’t mind taking a salary back that can be flipped.

Who will be your starter if you move him? Because I know it won't be Campbell.

    Andersen for Rittich?

Freddy is the better goalie, but Rittich almost makes half of what Freddy does. There's a ton of value in that for the Leafs, Rittich/Campbell combined make less than Freddy.

Would you do Andersen for Dubnyk? Both goalies struggled this season and both goalies on expiring contracts. Dubnyk saves around 700k but Minny probably has to add an asset to that and you can plug Johnsson along with Andersen to help save even more cap. I'm not a minny fan I'm just curious from an outside perspective

I actually really like that idea both ways. My idea was to make a move for Demko. Go with a tandem of demko cambell. Rittich could either take that place or be flipped. I like it.

My plan in the agm is to keep Johnsson... because he is really good, not throw him away lol. The idea is to move Freddy and use a goalie tandem.

With Rittich, you know that you can get 45-50 games of roughly .910, which is at worst league average. He can be very, very good he just needs to be rested. Unfortunately, the Flames overplayed him. Go abck and watch the Jan 16 CGY TOR highlights, that's what you can get out of Rittich on a regular basis if he's utilized properly

I think sometimes you forget that I’m a flames fan too and I live in Calgary.

I like rittich and I think you are absolutely right. I think the competition between the two goalies would work well too.

Freddie destinations could include CAL, CAR, MN, CHI or SJ. CAR & SJ have to move goalie contracts to make it happen. I think the Leafs would have to use draft picks to find another goalie vs a tandem. Would a 1st & 2nd (similar to when they got Freddie) for Merzlinkins work? I would have to think CLB listens...

Way too much, Freddy was a horrible riven starter. Elvis has 33 nhl games.

Would be more interested in a goalie like Demko. Just for the price.

So are you saying less for Merzlikins? He has a more proven pro and NHL track record than Demko. What is the price for Demko, have seen him as the sweetener for moving Eriksson's contract. Could he be the sweetener for taking on B.Sutter b/c Sutter is a guy the Leafs could use for C depth. Could a Kerfoot & Dermott for Sutter, Stetcher & Demko be a deal that makes sense?
