1. Barkov is easily your 1C if you get him and 2. 1oa or a package with Zibanejad has to go the other way

FLA is looking to shed salary, not increase it.

If you're not offering Zibanejad+Lafreniere then you must take a bad contract like Matheson out from their books.

The thing is, I like Barkov so much.. and the center position is so important, I wouldnt totally dismiss the idea of trading the 1OA for him.

Sadly, Rangers have 3 of their own albatrosses that need to go.

If he was willing to sign an extension then I'd trade 1OA for him.

All of them are one year tho.

Matheson's a 6-year one.

Honestly, if someone was willing to take Brenden Smith for a year without retaining any salary, the Rangers would be smart to take that contract from FLA and then leave him unprotected in the expansion draft.

Naturally.

Although Seattle will never pick him.

True that. That signing and the Trochek trade was not a good look for that team.

MTL laughs at that offer. Danault is worth way more.

you don't want Lemieux at all on this team moving forward. especially not at 2 mil for 4 years. he adds nothing of value that the we can't replace with almost any warm body.

Hang on now everyone, the OP gave up a lot of very good pieces for Barkov here.

Nils is going to be a star, I think he's roughly a top 10 NHL drafted prospect, and Deangelo was on pace for like 60 points as a 23/24 year old Dman.

Chytl is a pretty good piece too.

I dont think anyone is disputing that the players offered arent good and that in any usual situation that would be a lot of excellent pieces, however... its that decent quantity for high quality trade that usually never works.

I don't think they do it without Nils. But Nils shouldn't get moved for potentially only 2 years of Barkov. More cost effective options out there

Nils is in my trade proposal. I guess the other caveat is that Barkov agrees to resign with the Rangers in the trade.

I’m just not seeing a way to do it without KK or the first pick.
