Description

The Goat Hangs them up.

All contracts are EvoWild rough projections.

Just get Stepan as a placeholder for a year to help be a vet down the middle. Hopefully he connects with the stud young wings and they can flip him at the TDL with 50% retained for a nice double dip profit. Then they go into next year with Staal, Smith and Stepan off books and hopefully K’Andre and Henriksson and Nils are banging down the door and they can keep kicking the Tony garbage can decision down the road.

And they get 2 more 1sts into the system.

Lol taking a 2nd round pick to eat a bad contract for a year you won’t be competitive at a position of thin depth has nothing to do with Stepan being a former Ranger and just good value. Who cares where he played before. I would do the same type of deal with Bozak or any other older C who is in the last year of a highish cap hit from a team in cap trouble.

Would personally prefer targeting someone like Eller or Kerfoot instead. (both make similar amount of money and signed for an extra year or 2)

Did you see the deal? They are paying NYR to take Stepan. Lias is a complete bust and probably never plays in the NHL again. Strome is only signing a 1 year deal or 6+. There is no way he signs a 2 year deal that eats a UFA year.

Me too but they cost assets to acquire, not a Cap Dump like Stepan or Bozak etc.

Eller I’m not sure the Caps would trade for futures. They are a win now team and Holtby is walking so I think they will have some cap wiggle.

I’m sorry that Caps would’ve been something like Strome for Eller, with whatever picks to even it out. I mixed it up with something else.

Good grief that’s so atrocious on the Sharks trade. Ferraro straight up is way too much for Strome. Add in the 2nd rounder too? No way.

Its 5.5m in actual salary and 1m is bonus, so he could retire after the bonus is paid and be off the cap walking from 4.5m. Not likely but its 4.5m of 103m in career earnings for the guy, so maybe he just hangs them up. I hope not. I want him back one more year but doesnt seem likely.

I’m really high on Strome he plays similar style to the sharks system and would fit well here. That being said Ferraro is a HARD HARD no! 1 year of Strome is worth about Col 2nd and pit 3rd next year. Maybe.
