Description
Habs wont pay what it would take to get mantha because its too much of an overpay for what he is worth to the red wings.
Islanders need to create some cap space, they can bridge domi in the short term and clear up around 4.5 mil for next year with this deal. Its very hard to know what the value here would be clutterbuck is a key guy for the roll he plays with them but i think they have to be creative to find cap relief.

Not really, we never hit on our 2nd round picks aside from 1 or 2 over the past 5 plus years and we seem to always have multiple of them each year. Bailey is more consistent than domi, and Cal has an edge to him that the habs could very much use. Either way this was meant to be a more realistic value for what we are going to get for Domi because all i see are dream deals where the habs easily come out on top. Lets be real Domi had one good season was basically a ghost in the playoffs and even during the year was on pace for a 50 point season. Hes not getting his long term contract like he thought he would because theres still a question mark on him and that will greatly affect his trade value.

I agree on Domi but Habs are giving up 2 2nds in a deep draft and Domi is still the best player in the deal....Bailey is a severely overpaid 3rd liner and Clutterbuck is a replacement level player that works hard. Deal is horrid for the Habs.

I think he is getting some sort of bridge deal. I dont think anyone will want to be locking him up long term just give the downturn this year.
I would think something in the range of 2-3 years 4-4.5 mil. Fits for the Islanders current needs which is freeing up as much cap space as possible to sign Barzal.

Then I think the isles would do this. As much as the comments hate Josh Bailey he leads the isles in points and is low key a great playmaker

I think maybe he reversed the picks. It's supposed to be the Islanders sending MTL 2 second round pick in this deal
