That was because Marino refused to play for EDM and threatend to go back and play for his college instead. So we can really thank EDM's ****ty ownership and FO for that one.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day, look at Benning and Bergevin. They make so many stupid trades but still sometimes get it right

And JR has won his trades more than lost in his time in pittsburgh

I'm not saying he's bad. But I'm also not saying he's good.

Well hes done what no GM in the cap era has ever done. So that says something

What specifically is that? Won 2 times in a row? I guess thats true but the sample size is pretty small. Bowman won 3 cups.

Yeah, when a GM does something that nobody else has ever done, hes doing something right. Especially after previous GM's were horrible and could not even reach a cup. To say hes not good, is not correct imo. He acquired a lot of great key players in the cup runs

Who did Rutherford add? Bryan Rust? Matt Murray? Your core players in Pittsburgh were there before Rutherford.

Umm, what?

Benning has made very few bad trades. Sure he’s overpaid some UFAs, but most of them have been valuable parts of the team this year. His moves in the past year have been particularly great.

Bergevin has not made any egregious trades, and has only one clear bad move to his name, which would be signing Alzner.

Marino wasnt highly regarded either. Literally nobody saw that coming from him this season and saw him as a project. Hindsight is a helluva thing eh?

You mean fans that dont have blind loyalty? Rutherford was awesome for the two cup runs. But since Tom Wilson he has been less than stellar. Signing JJ and Tanev to queationable at best contracts. Along with a myriad of other trades to obtain "Grit" and size.

Blind loyalty? You just said JR got lucky in the Marino trade instead of thinking there is a possibility that the organization saw something in the kid lmao just stop

Just don’t entertain stupidity on this site. That’s what I’ve learned. Rutherford is a Hall Of Fame GM. Sure he’s had some misses as of late but to call him a “bad GM” is just embarrassing

Honestly, im enjoying him as the GM. Every year they are adding to help win the cup. Its more entertaining than other GMs sitting and doing nothing,
